Did you know that the use of a sippy-cup can actually delay a child's development?
Yes they're very convenient and help parents minimize the mess. But there are multiple concerns for how sippy-cups can impede a child's speech and language development. However there are other types of cups that can be introduced to a baby as early as 6 months that are better options.

Did you know that babies learn how to sit before they start to get in and out of the sitting position?
Most babies will start to sit on their own without support around 6 to 7 months. But they typically start sitting themselves up somewhere between 7 and 10 months.
There are activities you can do to help a baby learn how to get in and out of the sitting position. Check out today’s video release to learn more: https://youtu.be/3Q6B_Vg9gLA

Is it possible to create balanced meals for a baby, and offer a variety of foods even in the first several weeks of starting solids?
I often find that parents limit the number of foods they introduce to their baby because they don't have an approach to follow. Each week it's possible to safely introduce a new vegetable 🥦, fruit 🍌, carbohydrate food 🍠, protein food 🍗 and allergenic food 🥚. This allows you to expose your baby to a wider variety of foods.
To create more balance meals, a way you can structure the meal is to offer the new food of the day for about the first 10 minutes or so. Then in the second part of the meal, bring back one or two foods your baby had previous days.
For example, let's say you introduced broccoli the first day of the week, banana the second day, and today you're introducing sweet potato. In the first part of the meal let baby explore the new flavor of the day 🍠. Then in the second part of the meal bring back foods from previous days - 🥦 and 🍌- to add variety and create a more balanced meal.
Babies who get exposed to a greater variety of flavors and textures tend to be less likely to be picky eaters as they get older.

Parents often wonder what their baby's first foods should be when embarking on the journey of starting solids. Of course there are many ways to introduce the baby to solids. I also find it intriguing how every culture has their own unique way of starting the process.
We find that babies who are exposed to a greater variety of foods tend to be less likely to be picky eaters as they get older. Therefore I created a video that walks through what week 1 of starting solids could look like, while demonstrating an approach that will safely expose the baby to a wider variety of flavors and textures. I also mention things that parents can do from day 1 to encourage the baby to become an independent eater.
