I wanted to resharet this video of my African Grey, George because today is the anniversary of his passing and this is my favorite video of him. This video of George Recognizing himself in a video for the first time really shows how intelligent parrots are. This video was taken many years ago when cell phones had just come out with the front facing camera. I wanted to show George, himself and see what he would think. not only was he so aware that it was him, but he was also surprised to see himself.
You can tell that he knocks on the camera and says, "Hey" to try to figure out exactly what is happening and if there will be a response before he concludes that it is in fact him.
I hope to one day have a bird like George again. He was one of a kind. I got him as a young bird and taught him, letters, numbers, colors, you name it. He could string full sentences together and apply words to sentences that he had never heard before. I wish I had more time with him and could have shared so much more of him.
He is an inspiration to me and this entire channel is in memory of George.
