Exodus Transitional Community is the only faith-based community organization focused on reentry work in New York City. Many of our staff have been through the justice system: we are credible messengers.
The idea for Exodus was first scribbled on napkins, as our Executive Director, Julio Medina, walked the halls of Sing Sing Correctional Facility, where he had been sentenced to 12 years. In March of 1999, just three years after returning home, Julio founded Exodus Transitional Community. Julio and Exodus have been featured in the NYT, the Economist, C-Span, CNN, and numerous other international media outlets.
With a firm belief in human resilience, we deliver innovative programming tailored to adults and youth affected by the justice system, and advocate for a society in which all can achieve social, economic, and spiritual well-being.
