I want more people to discover how fun and healing Dorodango can be.
Letā€™s grow this amazing community together and share the joy around the world! āœØā˜ŗļøā¤ļø

Orders for the Dorodango kits will close on April 17th, and Iā€™ll be taking a break from April 18th to May 2nd.
If youā€™re thinking of ordering, nowā€™s the time!
āœØšŸ˜Š
Iā€™ll be visiting Japan to enjoy delicious food, stay at a hot spring inn, and spend time with family and friends.šŸ„°

Exciting newsā€”Iā€™ll be meeting Mr. Mitani, the Dorodango master and plaster craftsman from Kyoto!āœˆļø
Iā€™ll also join a Dorodango workshop in a pottery town in Aichi Prefecture, and Iā€™ll be sure to share all about it here!šŸ˜ŠšŸ«¶šŸ»

In May, Iā€™m planning to create more Q&A videos, and since many of you asked about firing Dorodango, Iā€™d love to try using a microwave kiln!
Plus, I recently succeeded in making a Dorodango using charcoal, and it turned out beautifullyā€”shiny like mica or pencil lead!

Hereā€™s a photo of the charcoal Dorodangoā€”it really sparkles!
When I return, Iā€™ll upload a video showing how I made it!

Iā€™ll be flying out this Saturdayā€”see you again soon!āœˆļø

If youā€™d like to order a kit, please do so by tomorrow!

Iā€™ll be going back to Japan from this weekend until early May! šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ
So Iā€™ll be temporarily closing my Etsy shop in about 3ā€“4 days.
If youā€™d like to order a kit, now is the perfect timeā€”I can still ship them before I leave! šŸ˜ŠšŸ«¶šŸ»āœØ

Dorodango art pieces take more time to make, so those will stay on pause for a little while longer.ā˜ŗļø

By the way, this photo was taken at the tulip park in Keukenhof, the Netherlands. šŸŒ·
Itā€™s probably the most beautiful season to visit right nowā€”absolutely stunning! šŸ˜ŠāœØšŸ«¶šŸ»

Also, friends from Thailand are visiting us, and weā€™re enjoying a peaceful spring together. ā¤ļøšŸŒ·šŸ˜Š

Wishing you all a beautiful spring too!
Itā€™s the perfect season to make Dorodango outdoorsā€”letā€™s fill our bodies and hearts with joy! šŸ˜†ā¤ļøšŸŒ·

Are you feeling anxious? Are you okay?
Especially during times like this, I want to recommend Dorodango. Iā€™ve put together the reasons why you should try it.

I often get comments like, ā€œWhatā€™s the point?ā€ or ā€œWhy spend time on something so pointless?ā€ But once you understand the value of making Dorodango, that guilt will disappear.

Youā€™ll feel confident doing it for yourself, knowing that it will bring happiness to everyone around you.

Thatā€™s why you should do it!

At first, I also wondered, ā€œWhy am I doing this every day?ā€ and felt guilty for being judged. To others, I seemed like I was wasting time. But back then, my heart was heavy, and I didnā€™t know why, but focusing on Dorodango every day helped me shift my attention. I remember clearly how it reduced the time I spent overthinking and worrying.

People tend to get lost in their worries, pressures, and anxieties about the future. But when you stay in that state for too long, thereā€™s no space to think about what really matters. Your energy for thinking decreases, and it becomes hard to make decisions or feel clearly.

Thatā€™s where Dorodango helps bring balance.

From now on, say it proudly! ā€œIā€™m making Dorodango to bring peace to the world!ā€ šŸ˜†ā¤ļøāœØšŸ«¶šŸ»

Letā€™s enjoy it with confidence!

I had a sore throat šŸ˜£ while working on a blue and green marble-style Dorodangoā€¦
Then a fever came šŸ¤’ and now Iā€™m stuck in bed.
Once I feel better, Iā€™ll make a video showing how to create those beautiful marble patterns!
For now, Iā€™m taking a little rest šŸ„¹šŸ«¶šŸ»

Yesterday, I held a Dorodango workshop in the city of Utrecht, the Netherlands!
Everyone truly enjoyed it!!

With focused eyes, they observed the slightest surface changes on their Dorodango.
Bit by bit, like a flower blooming, the tiny particles of sand and clay slowly compressed and alignedā€”until they began to shine like a mirror.
I believe they could really feel it through their eyes and handsšŸ–ļøā€”the deeper essence of Dorodango.

Once the Dorodango began to glow, their faces lit up like childrenā€”sparkling eyes, big smilesšŸ„¹šŸ˜†
It was such a beautiful moment and space to share!

The final step was 30 minutes of silent polishing.
But not a single person stopped.
In fact, we extended it to 45 minutesāœØšŸ„¹
If I hadnā€™t said ā€œstop,ā€ I think they would have just kept going.
I was so happy to see everyone so deeply immersed in the simple act of polishing mud.

When youā€™re truly absorbed in something you love, all the stress, worries, and overthinking just fade away.
In todayā€™s busy world, where our minds are constantly racing, taking time to let go of thought is more important than everšŸ˜ŠāœØšŸ«¶šŸ»

Thank you so much to everyone who joined!

I asked ChatGPT to create a flyer for my Dorodango Starter Kit, and it turned out so fun and made the mud balls look almost delicious!
AI is amazing!
Itā€™s super cute ā€” I love it!
The final illustration was a special surprise from my husband.
He secretly took a photo of me making Dorodango at night to relax,
and turned it into this illustration as a gift.

This is an art that takes time.
Itā€™s not pop, not catchy, not luxurious.
Only quiet focus, and your hands.

And yetā€”
You find yourself falling in love.
Creating a jewel from soil with your own hands.
The more you make, the more you polish your inner self.

It feels like Zen practice.

Zen is the training of the heartā€”
to soften the ups and downs,
to live more gently.

By shaping Dorodango,
you polish your heart.
It is an art of connectionā€”
to the earth, to stillness, and to the cycle of nature.ā˜ŗļøāœØšŸ«¶šŸ»

Iā€™m currently deepening the part about Zen mind for this weekendā€™s workshop.
I havenā€™t had time to post a video, but since Iā€™ve received so many great questions, Iā€™m thinking of answering them little by little through short videos in the future.

Iā€™m not a devoted follower of any specific religion, but I truly love the way of thinking in Zen.
Zen is, for me, the art of living with a calm and peaceful heart.

I often listen to talks by monks on YouTube, and I read many books about it.
Through that, when I look at Dorodango, I feelā€”it is Zen itself.

When you pursue simplicity to its very core, something deeper begins to reveal itself.
Dorodango is made from just earth and water, and the act of polishing is so simple.
Yet within that simplicity lies something profound and infinite.

Donā€™t you think so?

Dorodango, to me, is the perfect practice for nurturing awareness and cultivating the heart.

Thatā€™s the spirit behind the program Iā€™m creatingā€”
A workshop where you can feel the quiet depth, the wabi-sabi, the stillness within.

As itā€™s coming together, Iā€™m starting to feelā€¦ maybe this is something worthy of becoming a book someday!
Iā€™ll keep refining it, so the participants can have the most meaningful experience possible.

Alsoā€”just for funā€”I found a path that looked like it was covered with little Dorodangos!
Look at this photoā€¦ donā€™t they look like perfectly placed Dorodangos?
I just had to stop and take a picture. It made me smileā€”so I wanted to share it with you too!
