Are you feeling anxious? Are you okay?
Especially during times like this, I want to recommend Dorodango. Iāve put together the reasons why you should try it.
I often get comments like, āWhatās the point?ā or āWhy spend time on something so pointless?ā But once you understand the value of making Dorodango, that guilt will disappear.
Youāll feel confident doing it for yourself, knowing that it will bring happiness to everyone around you.
Thatās why you should do it!
At first, I also wondered, āWhy am I doing this every day?ā and felt guilty for being judged. To others, I seemed like I was wasting time. But back then, my heart was heavy, and I didnāt know why, but focusing on Dorodango every day helped me shift my attention. I remember clearly how it reduced the time I spent overthinking and worrying.
People tend to get lost in their worries, pressures, and anxieties about the future. But when you stay in that state for too long, thereās no space to think about what really matters. Your energy for thinking decreases, and it becomes hard to make decisions or feel clearly.
Thatās where Dorodango helps bring balance.
From now on, say it proudly! āIām making Dorodango to bring peace to the world!ā šā¤ļøāØš«¶š»
Letās enjoy it with confidence!

Yesterday, I held a Dorodango workshop in the city of Utrecht, the Netherlands!
Everyone truly enjoyed it!!
With focused eyes, they observed the slightest surface changes on their Dorodango.
Bit by bit, like a flower blooming, the tiny particles of sand and clay slowly compressed and alignedāuntil they began to shine like a mirror.
I believe they could really feel it through their eyes and handsšļøāthe deeper essence of Dorodango.
Once the Dorodango began to glow, their faces lit up like childrenāsparkling eyes, big smilesš„¹š
It was such a beautiful moment and space to share!
The final step was 30 minutes of silent polishing.
But not a single person stopped.
In fact, we extended it to 45 minutesāØš„¹
If I hadnāt said āstop,ā I think they would have just kept going.
I was so happy to see everyone so deeply immersed in the simple act of polishing mud.
When youāre truly absorbed in something you love, all the stress, worries, and overthinking just fade away.
In todayās busy world, where our minds are constantly racing, taking time to let go of thought is more important than everšāØš«¶š»
Thank you so much to everyone who joined!

I asked ChatGPT to create a flyer for my Dorodango Starter Kit, and it turned out so fun and made the mud balls look almost delicious!
AI is amazing!
Itās super cute ā I love it!
The final illustration was a special surprise from my husband.
He secretly took a photo of me making Dorodango at night to relax,
and turned it into this illustration as a gift.

This is an art that takes time.
Itās not pop, not catchy, not luxurious.
Only quiet focus, and your hands.
And yetā
You find yourself falling in love.
Creating a jewel from soil with your own hands.
The more you make, the more you polish your inner self.
It feels like Zen practice.
Zen is the training of the heartā
to soften the ups and downs,
to live more gently.
By shaping Dorodango,
you polish your heart.
It is an art of connectionā
to the earth, to stillness, and to the cycle of nature.āŗļøāØš«¶š»

Iām currently deepening the part about Zen mind for this weekendās workshop.
I havenāt had time to post a video, but since Iāve received so many great questions, Iām thinking of answering them little by little through short videos in the future.
Iām not a devoted follower of any specific religion, but I truly love the way of thinking in Zen.
Zen is, for me, the art of living with a calm and peaceful heart.
I often listen to talks by monks on YouTube, and I read many books about it.
Through that, when I look at Dorodango, I feelāit is Zen itself.
When you pursue simplicity to its very core, something deeper begins to reveal itself.
Dorodango is made from just earth and water, and the act of polishing is so simple.
Yet within that simplicity lies something profound and infinite.
Donāt you think so?
Dorodango, to me, is the perfect practice for nurturing awareness and cultivating the heart.
Thatās the spirit behind the program Iām creatingā
A workshop where you can feel the quiet depth, the wabi-sabi, the stillness within.
As itās coming together, Iām starting to feelā¦ maybe this is something worthy of becoming a book someday!
Iāll keep refining it, so the participants can have the most meaningful experience possible.
Alsoājust for funāI found a path that looked like it was covered with little Dorodangos!
Look at this photoā¦ donāt they look like perfectly placed Dorodangos?
I just had to stop and take a picture. It made me smileāso I wanted to share it with you too!

Iām a Japanese Dorodango master sharing it with the world from the Netherlands. š Learn and enjoy Dorodango!
I teach the traditional Japanese art of Dorodango, creating smooth, shiny spheres from sand and clay. Dorodango once healed my heart, and Iāve shared its beauty with many since.
Along with workshops, I sell Dorodango kits and handmade pieces on Etsy.
I developed my own Dorodango method, allowing anyone, anywhereāeven without clay-rich soilāto create polished Dorodango at home.
ā Enjoy it for personal use! If using my method commercially (e.g., in-person workshops), you may do so by crediting it as the āNoriko Method.ā
š« Selling my method onlineāincluding workshops, tutorials, guides, or digital contentāis strictly prohibited.
I explore new techniques to expand Dorodangoās possibilities. My work has been featured in Japanās major news media.
Letās enjoy the wonderful world of Dorodango together! Youāll find deep peace and beauty along the way. š
