Dengue has already started in different parts of the city as well as in different parts of the country. Hospital beds are filling up with both adult and children dengue patients.

To protect children from dengue, follow these measures:

Eliminate Mosquito Breeding Sites: Remove standing water from around your home to prevent mosquito breeding. Empty containers like buckets, flowerpots, and old tires.

Use Mosquito Nets: Ensure that children sleep under mosquito nets, especially during daytime naps and at night.

Dress Protectively: Dress children in long-sleeved clothing and pants to minimize exposed skin.

Use Insect Repellent: Apply mosquito repellent on exposed skin, using a product suitable for children. Always follow the instructions on the label.

Keep Doors and Windows Screened: Install mosquito screens on windows and doors to prevent mosquitoes from entering the house.

Avoid Peak Mosquito Activity: Mosquitoes that carry dengue are most active during early morning and late afternoon, so try to limit outdoor activities during those times.

Maintain a Clean Environment: Regularly clean and maintain your living space, ensuring there are no cluttered areas where mosquitoes could hide.

Encourage Hygiene: Teach children to wash their hands frequently and keep themselves clean to minimize the risk of mosquito bites.

Support Community Efforts: Participate in community clean-up drives to reduce mosquito breeding sites in your area.

Seek Medical Attention: If a child displays symptoms of dengue (high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, rash), seek medical attention promptly.

Remember, dengue is a serious illness, and prevention is key. Stay informed about dengue outbreaks in your area and take necessary precautions.
