Welp, this was my second time traveling to the United Kingdom so I thought I had it all down to a system. A split second wrong decision almost ruined my entire trip, because of course it happened on the first day.

It's embarrassing, but I wanted to share because it's probably my number one piece of advice for anyone traveling with a disability and any type of mobility aid or device that requires charging. Do your research!

Over the past couple of years, accessible travel has been a large part of my content. And while I have learned more and more about the realities of traveling with a disability and a mobility scooter, each time I travel I am still extremely nervous and anxious. I try not to be, I try to trust that things will work out, but it’s just part of the reality of traveling with a disability.

I felt the need to express this because something that has always genuinely helped ease my nerves, and assist with the many hours of planning that goes into traveling with a disability, is seeing other people with disabilities traveling to places I want to go. It helps me visualize what is possible, and motivates me to put my anxiety aside and try something new by visiting a new place. That’s what motivates me to create the content I do, in hopes it helps someone along the way, even when I’m kinda nervous about it myself lol!

That said, I make mistakes because I’m a human being. This bucket list trip to Europe that I just took was a big lesson to me. I spent countless days planning and prepping but still had some issues pop up -some unavoidable, some out of my control completely. It happens, and in hindsight everything worked out and I am so grateful for that.

I learned a lot that I’ll continue to apply to my future travels, and hope that by being vulnerable and sharing the highs and lows with you that it’ll help reduce some issues other travelers with disabilities may face.

Thanks for always supporting me and my vulnerable words. 🩷

Shockingly enough, I rarely ever went to the doctor for cerebral palsy until recently. My doctor visits over the past couple decades were only related to getting sick or some kind of falling injury, like hurting my tailbone.

But, 2024 so far has been full of different appointments with different doctors - all for CP related things! My body has been giving me all of the signs that I need to get additional support. It's been a huge time commitment, and I still haven't done half the things I need to like put in the time to research and test out local physical therapists and occupational therapists, keep up with my stretching appointments and more.

I wanted to share an update about my decision to meet with a neurologist about my disability, how things have been going for me related to aging with cerebral palsy because it certainly doesn't get talked about enough, and share some of the next-steps I have on my list in addition to exercising with my personal trainer 2X a week.

I hope you find this insightful or helpful! I can't thank you enough for watching.
