Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Tajikistan witnessed a significant decline in its wild animal population, primarily attributed to rampant poaching. However, concerted efforts by the government, and hunting companies have resulted in improved wild animal populations across the country.
LLC βMurgab Huntingβ founded in 1989 by Bekmurodov Atobek and Bekmurodi Zafar, driven by their love of hunting and a shared passion for environmental conservation, LLC "Murgab Hunting" has been working alongside the government and other key stakeholders to combat poaching and regulate the population of wild animals such as wolves, which also impact the population of Marco Polo sheep and Pamir mid-Asian Ibex. The Marco Polo sheep population now hovers around 30 000, while the Pamir mid-Asian Ibex boasts a population of approximately 10 000. This is a remarkable achievement that highlights the importance of trophy hunting in preserving and protecting wildlife.
