You Can Improve Your Posture (Here’s How!) 🌳

Good news, we are NOT destined to develop a hunched-over stoop as we age. Our posture is very much in our control, and we’re here to give you more practical tips than just “stand up straight!”

Yes, if we do nothing, our posture will likely worsen. This happens for a couple of reasons. First, our bones become less dense as we age (particularly after menopause begins) and we start to lose muscle, which contributes to the curvature of the spine. But the main reason is the discs that separate our vertebrae start to harden and lose flexibility, which causes that forward tilt. Your doctor would call this “kyphosis.” But don’t worry―there are effective solutions!

Movement fuels our physical and mental health. We move to maintain independence, prevent health concerns we all worry about, and keep doing what we love. Movement includes walking, stretching, strength training, online fitness classes―and equally as important, rest, recovery, and sleep! We’re always looking for ways to incorporate more movement into our daily routines.
