My family has been fishing in Ketchikan, Alaska for four generations -- It's probably one of the reasons I decided to build Chinook Shores Lodge (www.chinookshores.com).
Our family is the original owner of the lodge property, purchasing the land from the Federal Government in the 1940′s. My grandfather eventually inherited the cabin and brought me here on a summer vacation from Oregon in 1978 when I was 12 years old. After fishing with him in a 14′ Lund and staying in the cabin for a few weeks I was hooked for the rest of my life.
I came back to Ketchikan to fish every year after that and haven’t missed a summer yet. I started working on my cousin’s (Snapper Carson) salmon tender when I was 13 and eventually found jobs on salmon seiners, halibut long liners, and Bering Sea king crabbers.
