Many a mountain supper started just like this — greens sizzling low and slow in a cast-iron skillet. From skillet cornbread to squirrel stew, these are the meals our grandparents swore by — hearty, humble, and straight from the mountain table.

I just shared 30 of these lost meals on the channel. 🍂 If you grew up with these dishes, which one takes you back the most?

Ever had a Sunday dinner that came with a side of attitude? 😏

When Daddy stayed too long at the fishing hole, bought a “yard tool” that looked suspiciously like a bass boat, or just plain said the wrong thing… Mama didn’t yell. She cooked.

These Southern Mama Revenge Suppers told the whole story without a single word being spoken. 🍳

Every now and then, you spot these old-time gums on a store shelf and it’s like a little time machine to the corner store of your childhood. Do you grab a pack every time you see them (like I do) or just smile and keep walking?

Remember when side dishes were more than an afterthought?
They were homemade, passed down, and just as loved as the main course.
Deviled eggs with a little paprika… cornbread dressing from scratch… maybe even sweet potato hand pie at the end.

Which old-school side do you wish folks still made today?

🧡 We just published a new video filled with forgotten dishes you probably haven’t seen since your mama’s Betty Crocker days: https://youtu.be/6Eigi6Pocnc

🥘 Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, and sweet green peas…

Yes ma’am, Salisbury steak in July. It might’ve been sweltering, but somehow Mama made it work—usually with a box fan humming and sweet tea in hand.

This was one of 25 dinners Southern families leaned on in the 1970s. Did yours make this, too?
