⚠️ Be prepared for foxtails! ⚠️

Summer into late fall is the prime season for foxtails which can severely injure your pets. They look like bristly yellow heads that stand about 1-3in tall and are often found in dry, grassy areas, hiking trails, and even gardens. With attention and care you can prevent foxtail injuries, and know how to deal with them if they occur so you can keep your pets safe!

The seeds can burrow into skin, eyes, paw pads, and noses. Some signs that your pet has a foxtail injury include: head shaking, limping, snorting/sneezing, face pawing, excessive licking, redness and tenderness. 🌾

Early removal of foxtails is crucial❗️Always check your pet after being outside. If you suspect a foxtail injury, your pet should be taken to a vet promptly. Some foxtails can be removed at home with tweezer if you can CLEARLY see the foxtail - be aware that attempting yourself can lead to an incomplete removal and cause a seed to burrow deeper.

We hope this can help you keep your pet safe this summer! 🫂
