Sometimes you need to take a moment and enjoy life!
Brewing beer and catching up on my reading made a perfect Saturday.
A bit of an update for any of you who pay closer attention to my channel. Yes, I've not been uploading videos on a regular basis for a while now. Unfortunately that looks like it will continue and as a result YouTube is giving my channel a beating.
The short story is that I'm concentrating most of my time now on a new business venture (back to teaching unfortunately). Things are looking up and my financial worries might soon be reduced. Nevertheless, despite my love for the topic of aviation history, my motivation to tackle the bigger projects on my to do list lately has been very low. I think having a regular wage again is going to change this.
So, hopefully over the next few months as the stress levels in my home go down, I'll find the time and drive to start producing monthly videos in my own style (and feel a lot less guilty about doing so).
Thanks again to all of you who watch and comment on my videos. I'm sure that I'll have another one out before the end of next month.

Thanks guys! It was good to wake up to this message today.
Now if any of you had about 55,000 mates...

How much better was the Me 262 compared to the rest of the Luftwaffe?
Here we have a breakdown of JG7's performance in April 1945 (left) and the rest of the Luftwaffe (right). At the bottom you can see the Kill-to-Loss ratio, showing the figure based on pure claims and a lower estimate based on a 50% overclaiming estimate.

I was hoping to get a photo of all the 4s, but 10 wonderful people subbed while I was asleep.
Haven't said it in a while, but thank you to all my supporters and subscribers who watch my videos.
When my channel first got picked up I set myself the quiet goal of 100K subs. Being extremely vain, I'd love to have that silver play button hanging on my office wall. We're getting there day by day and thankfully it means I'll still be producing videos for some time to come.
As ever, real life comes first and I'm currently looking at a new job opportunity which will take me away from regular uploads for a while. If all goes well with the new venture I will still have permission from the 'boss' to keep up this hobby.
Good thing too as I still have a list of hundreds of video ideas that I want to research and produce, so you won't be getting rid of me just yet.
Again, thank you all for spending time with me and motivating me to spend these hours researching topics I'm so passionate about.

Have you ever researched a WWI/WWII veteran's story in the archives?
(i.e. not just reading a secondary source)

How many aircraft did the Me 262 shoot down? Or, a better question, how many did its pilots think it shot down?
Here we have a break down of Me 262 claims from its combat debut in July 1944 until the fall of Germany in May 1945. As can be seen, the Soviet Air Force (VVS) got off very lightly.

What impact did the Me 262 have on the Allies?
In this chart I've given you the total RAF and 8th Air force losses for the month of March 1945 compared to the claims made by the Me 262 against the entire Allied air forces. You can also see the losses among the Me 262s themselves.

I've been absolutely fascinated with aviation history since I was about 10 years old and found an old copy of 'Biggles: The Camels are coming' in my local library.
Since then, I have read everything I can about flying machines and the men who piloted them, especially when I learned that my own Grandfather had been in the Royal Air Force during WW2. My passion took me to university where I learned even more about the subject and then to a flying school where I became a pilot myself.
