I am a traveling performing songwriter, based on the US west coast, and specializing in house concerts.
In 2011 I had a transcendent experience, one of the best of my life, in which I got a personal insight into the relationship between music, number, and reality. I started a journey into just intonation that led me to the lattice of fifths and thirds, a visualization tool that opened the black box of harmony and allowed me to look inside.
Many of the videos on this channel are stop-motion illustrations of music moving on this lattice, created for my blog, garygarrett.me, where I documented my explorations in real time for a year or two. I have compiled the blog posts into a free online book, in the links below.
