Mambo! That’s Swahili for “hello”. We went to Ashley’s, a hair salon and spa; it’s located in City Mall of Kenya, Mombasa in Nyali Beach. We had a great experience and the employees were helpful and friendly. Watch our latest video to see how our hair turned out and more of our opinion on this experience. Tutaonana baadaye! Thats Swahili for, “See you later!” 🤗

We made it! Our journey from America to Africa is complete, but not finished. We’re in Nyali beach and have a great view of it as well. We’re at the beginning of our expedition, adapting to the culture and language barrier. And guess what, soon as we landed our little sister said she wanted to go back home. Yet after we went out and explored our apartment pool and the near mall, she didn’t speak on that topic anymore 😂.

As said before, we’re in the stage of adjusting, one part is the food. The food is great here but way different than America, especially the snacks. An example is the cookies, they call them biscuits here, they have a taste, but it’s not as sweet as the ones back home. Or even the chicken sausages, you must add your own seasonings unless you want a bland sausage.

Now moving to the topic of language barriers. It is hard some times to understand them and have them understand us. Kenyans speak English but it’s a little different than ours, ours has a lot of slang and we talk more relaxed, theirs is more proper or just different. They are very soft spoken which is something we are the total opposite of. We’re learning Swahili everyday and look forward to speaking fluently in that language.

Thank you team members for watching and keeping up with our journey, don’t forget to subscribe for further updates!

Our journey from our home to Africa has been a roller coaster. We have had our hard times and our great ones, but it was all worth it. Our family has stayed together through it all and got through it. Traveling can be tough but it makes wonderful memories for the future. Thank you team members for watching our journey.
