Learn to heal from trauma and other forms of mental illness with practical insights from a guy who has been there and back.
In 2018, I entered treatment for my PTSD from childhood. Having brilliant, trauma-informed therapists saved my life and got me started on the healing journey, but I soon found I had exhausted the resources currently available in the mental health community for the treatment of PTSD. I had learned what happened to me in childhood, but that knowledge alone did not heal me. I was still a mental wreck given to constant panic, anxiety and crushing depression. I weighed over 400 lbs and was bedridden with "unexplained" chronic pains.
"How do I survive this?"
"How do I actually get better?"
I couldn't find the answers I was looking for despite scouring books and the internet.
Over the next few years, I was forced to find answers to my questions via exploration, painful trial and error and drawing on my PhD work as a social scientist. Here I share what helped me heal.
