Am back in northern Illinois. My last Arizona train video will post tomorrow. With this SD70AH leader.

I still have a few Illinois area oldies from last year to post. Then hopefully some fresher content.

I haven't been idle while enjoying the southern Arizona weather. Am editing a video featuring these FXE EMDs.

Alrighty. That's it for me for 2020. I'll be traveling to southern Arizona to spend a few months in a warmer climate. I hope to catch a bit of train action down there. Although the ease of getting trackside is nothing like back home. So we shall see.

I do have a bunch of stockpiled videos from the past couple of months that I will be slowly posting over the next few months.

Have a great 2021 everyone.

Tomorrow... another simultaneous release of a 360 video and a ref-framed "flat" video of the same train. CSXT 744 East. This will be an overhead video, too.

In a few days I will simultaneously post two videos of this CSXT 716. One will be a 360 video and the second a "re-framed" flat video taken from the 360.

I'd appreciate your thoughts, preferences, suggestions, etc on each.

These "PanoMoments can be an interesting way to view a 360 video. Essentially turning a 360 video into an interactive photo. Here's a recent one of CN 5752.

Hey thanks for all who responded to my poll about the equipment on which you view 360 video. Admittedly not a scientific poll, however I'm very glad to see that almost 80% of those that have responded so far view 360 on their smartphone, tablets or VR goggles. That is good to know since the viewing experience is much better on a "smaller" screen where the spread out 360 pixels are somewhat compressed.

When I produce my 360 videos I edit them on a desktop. Which can sometimes make them look less than ideal. So this poll gives me incentive to continue to produce 360 videos.

However, I did receive a new 360 shooter on Monday. The Insta360 One R. With up to 5.7k resolution. This will be my sixth 360 camera. Started with a Kodak SP360, then Samsung 360, MiSphere 360, Yi 360, Insta360 One X and now this. I wanted to go with the GoPro Max due to my familiarity with the GoPro line. But I just couldn't get the highest resolution to work easily with my current editing setup. So I went with the Insta360 One R. So far I've shot a couple of test videos and all seems well. In fact, last night a local train (nothing special) made for an easy test train capture. So far so good and it should be viewable in a couple of days.

Regards.

How do you normally view 360 degree videos?
