Fall in love with the "single ladies" of the rose garden. Here are 'Alexandra Rose', 'Dainty Bess', 'Jacqueline Du Pre', 'Altissimo' and 'Mozart' - can you make a commitment to any of these in your garden? 5 Famously "thornless" roses. Not exactly true... you may still find a prickle or two, but much nicer to have a brush with one of these than a rugosa! You'll find some of my other picks in this article: www.fraservalleyrosefarm.com/thornless-roses/
Pictured here: In old fashioned pink, Zephirine Drouhin. Crepuscule in sunset colors. Sophie's Perpetual - darkening as it ages. Cecile Brunner "The Sweetheart Rose" in soft pink. And 'Burgundy Iceberg" a very good sport!

Since I posted this video and chart on the family tree of roses, viewers have been asking for a higher resolution copy for printing or closer study. Here's a link to the article on RosaPedia with both lower and higher resolution versions offered. Enjoy!

Final day open to farm visitors for the year. The roses don't know when to quit, so here's one more shot from the garden to 'Remember Me' by. Lisa and I would like to say thanks so much to our local customers (and visitors from further away) for making it such an enjoyable season! #closingtime

Just out today, this is the Rose Chat Podcast where I talk with Teresa Byington about the stories that travel along with our roses. These are some of romantic, outlandish and sometimes tragic tales that have been told and retold about the rose we know and love. Accurate history, maybe not! But who am I to let the truth get in the way of a good story.
Two more notes:
1) This conversation is approached from a western perspective. I've heard a couple of wonderful narratives from an eastern point of view as well (especially China) but I'd be far out of my depth trying to tell those stories
2) I made a series of YouTube videos where I discuss the classes of roses, and include some of their stories (with a few visuals too!). They're a little older, so apologies for the if I'm a little "static" in them:

Heads up - especially to other garden YouTubers. I just had my channel "cloned" on this video site: Gan Jing World. I noticed a lot of other garden YouTubers also with their content uploaded there (partial screenshot below). I'm not sure if it's with permission, but given my own experience, I suspect not. I reached out to the Rose Geek as well, and she confirmed that hers was taken without permission! Anyway, share around and warn your favorite channels at least to check.

Some of you already found this little easter egg: I've experimented with another little Youtube channel. Here's the scoop: some companies request review videos from me. They sometimes use these vids for Amazon listings and such. I enjoy seeing and evaluating new products and would like to do the occasional review, but I have reservations about cluttering up Fraser Valley Rose Farm with them. TBH, I've seen other channels go the wrong direction with this kind of thing, and I've promised myself to be wary of that path. So my compromise: I'll accept the reviews, post them to my "Clark Kent" channel (I'm even considering wearing the glasses) and this gives a clean decision to viewers. Self-promotion doesn't wear well on me, so this may be the only time you hear from me about it! Thanks.

Seeking your guidance on LED lighting videos. Lots of sponsorship offers, but I've been like "Meh... I've pretty much said what I need to say about artificial lighting" But the real question is audience reception:

I would really appreciate your opinion on our new logo options: how would any of these look on a plant tag?

I'm more than a little enthusiastic about growing roses and other cool, useful plants. Lately, we've been adding to our assortment of unusual ornamentals and permaculture plants. As we develop our little nursery, I'll post some videos about our roses, growing topics, and anything that relates to starting up and maintaining a small farm. For those curious, we're growing in a northern temperate climate, USDA Zone 8.
