Today was a birthday celebration for my buddy Frank Of Hackle Tackle.
We took a trip on the Bolo Won. a 48ft Sport Fishing Vessel. Joined by franks son Will and friends, we headed off shore about 3 miles off Boca Raton, FL to hit a deep drop spot that Captain George (Bolo 1) has fished for years. The first drop was not caught on camera and we lost the entire rig plus over 400 ft. of braided line. The Capt. was very upset because he believed it would now ruin that spot due to the fact we had an 8lb lead, 4 or 5 hooks with bait. Most likely a bunch of fish would get caught then wrap around the structure and completely disrupt and disturb the spot for months. George was not a happy Capt. at all but he decided to go back to the exact same spot and drop again! As we started our 2nd pass, he may have put us just to the left of the last pass. Next thing you know, Fish on. When we bring it up, Baam! there's the fish and there's our other line. We proceed to hand line it up and low and behold, We have not only retrieved our line, but rig and weight too! oh yeah, With a fish on as well!! Yesir. Then after being rewarded with our rig back, We now hook up to a 30 lb SNOWEY GROUPER!! the rest is history.
