Tuvalu, in the South Pacific, is an independent island nation within the British Commonwealth. Over the past decades, this archipelago has slowly been the victim of climate change. 🌊Rising sea levels and sand erosion is swallowing the coastal regions and continues to claim more land with each passing year. Scientists predict Tuvalu could become uninhabitable in the next 50 to 100 years. Locals say they feel it could be much sooner.
Tuvalu is home to just 11,000 people, most of whom live on the largest island of Fongafale, where they are packed in and fighting for space. Tuvalu’s total land area accounts for less than 26 sq km. 🏝️Tuvaluans rely heavily on agriculture and fishing for their livelihoods. However, the impacts of sea level rise, such as saltwater intrusion and coastal erosion, threaten these traditional sources of income and food security.
🌍The government of Tuvalu and international organizations have been working on adaptation measures to address the impacts of sea level rise. These include building seawalls, planting mangroves to stabilize coastlines, and implementing water management strategies to preserve freshwater resources.

Since 2012, the population of these vital creatures have not been rising the way scientists hoped.
But that all changed this year.
For the first time in a decade, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) announced that the number of rhinos has increased by 5.6 percent since 2021. Since these animals are not considered endangered, this is a big win for their preservation, and we need to do all we can to ensure they can stick around for the long haul! #whiterhino #wildlifeconservation #wildlife #endangeredspecies #rhino
