CharisDEVO: Awe of our God

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.” Revelations 4:8b

Jesus has given us access to His Father. We can lift up our hands in worship and declare that He is Lord and that He lives forever.

The ability to look at the Father and declare that He is worthy was only made possible through the blood of Jesus Christ.

In this present season, Jesus offers salvation to those who come to Him as they are. He’s calling on you to run to Him and He will cleanse your conscience and give you His righteousness.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Romans 14:17

God’s righteousness in us, through the sacrifice of Jesus, has placed us with Him in heavenly places. We have been given a new song and truly our God is holy.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you. Psalm 89:14

Don’t be timid when you think about God’s awesomeness and holiness. When you sin, run to Him and keep beholding his holiness. As you behold, His steadfast love and grace will transform you from within.
Confession
Holy is our God.
Mighty is our God.
Precious is the Lamb.
Mighty is the Lamb.
Glory to the One who reigns forever.
Glory to the One who was, and is, and is to come.

CharisDEVO: Stillness of heart

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1

A still heart is a sign of rest and faith that God knows what He’s doing in your life. One of the signs that satan uses is the desire to rush things.

Believe what God is doing in your life. He created you and has more insight about you than anyone else.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

Be still when the enemy tries to get you to rush things. Be still when that breakthrough seems to be taking too long to manifest.

Jesus wants us to learn from Him. He wants us to emulate His approach towards life.

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 1 Peter 2:23

They accused Jesus of having a demon. They accused Him of blasphemy, but He never reacted by doing evil. He committed His life to His Father—He didn’t allow what was happening around Him to affect the state of His heart.

Prayer
Father, still my heart with your word.
Give me wisdom and insight into your Kingdom. Teach me to be emulate your son, Jesus. Let your peace that passes all understanding guard my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

CharisDEVO: Stewarding your gifts and talents

26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Matthew 25:26

Every person on earth has gifts and talents that God placed in them even before they were conceived (Jeremiah 1:5).

Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139:16

God wrote down everything He wants you to do on earth. However, we cannot do these things without stewarding these gifts. Your gifts and talents are those things that you were designed to do by the grace of God.

At the discovery phase, the Lord reveals to you what He’s written in Heaven concerning you. You can know as you seek the Lord through prayer, fasting, and reading His word.

It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out. Proverbs 25:2

As you stay busy in the things of the kingdom, the Lord will show you what to do and He expects you to your invest time and resources. Investing time and resources will make you a better and effective steward of the visions of God in you.

29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. Matthew 25:29

Do more with what you’ve been given and the Lord will give you more work and reward. Please, read Matthew 25 for more.
Confession
Father, thank you for giving me gifts and talents. Show me what you’ve deposited in me and teach me how to use my gifts for your glory. Give me understanding and strength to be a good steward. In Jesus’ name, amen.

CharisDEVO: I’m a jealous God

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God…, Exodus 20:5

We’re living in a world that is full of distractions. Everything is vying for our attention and only the disciplined mind will circumvent these distractions.

God calls himself jealous because he doesn’t want anything else to have our attention. Your worship goes to the person or thing that has your attention.

Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. 1 John 5:21

An idol is anything that takes the place of Jesus in your heart. God considers it an idol because he created you to worship Him. He wants to have your attention because there are things He wants to share with you through intimacy.

He said, ‘Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.’ Joshua 24:23

What is your god? Is it fashion, music, clothes, children, spouse, movies, money, sexual immorality? Anything that raises itself above the knowledge or place of God is an idol.

The devil wants you to focus on these things because he doesn’t like sober Christians. A sober believer leans on God for nourishment while a carnal believer focuses on earthly things.

No wonder Paul said we should set our affections on things that are above, not on earth, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God the Father (Colossians 3:1).

Where’s your affection? Is it on Jesus or on the things of this world?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that you are a jealous God.
I give you my spirit, soul, and body.
I give up deadly passions and desires that pull me from your purpose.
Mold me to become what you predestined for me before the foundations of the world. In Jesus’ name, amen.

CharisDEVO: Forgiveness to answered prayers

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16

There’s a misconception that prayers that involve shouting and yelling are more effective than just speaking to God with your normal tone.

You don’t have to change your tone when speaking to God and a fervent prayer has everything to do with our obedience to the word of God.

23Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,24leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23

A fervent prayer involves prayer that is done from a clean conscience. We can hinder our prayers by allowing bitterness and unforgiveness to reign in us.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32

Making sure your conscience is clean is a prerequisite to seeing your prayers answered. There are people who pray all the time but something never seems right because their attitude towards their fellowman is not consistent with the word of God.

God’s blessings don’t flow in the opposite direction. God is always consistent and true to His word.

Forgive one another so that you may be healed. Don’t allow bitterness in your heart because God expects us to forgive just as he forgave us in Christ Jesus.

See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; Hebrews 12:15

Confession
Father, I forgive anyone who’s ever wronged me. I receive healing for any bitterness that crept into my heart through offense or unforgiveness. Bitterness, offense, anger, malice, resentment, and hatred have no place in my heart.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

CharisDEVO: Arise above your situation

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. John 5:8

Long-standing circumstances can make one think that God is ok with us at that level. However, as we read about Jesus, we see that he’s our healer and he doesn’t want us to suffer unnecessarily.

There are so many biblical characters that had various predicaments, but they experienced the hand of God the moment the Lord Jesus stepped into scene.

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. John 5:7

The lame man didn’t answer Jesus’ question, but instead complained that he didn’t have help. Think about the number of times we ignored the voice of the Lord when we complained and murmured about what we didn’t have.

17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:17

We cannot grow or move to the next level that God is call us into without responding to his word with faith in our heart.

Faith is the currency of the kingdom that enables us to act on the word by faith. When God asks you to walk, walk. When he says run, run.

The breakthrough is in taking up your bed and walking away. Come out of complacency, come out of unbelief, and come out of your own self.

This man could have picked up his bed earlier but he needed someone to give him an additional boost in the Lord. Arise to the word of God concerning you (Isaiah 60).

Confession
The word of God is producing results in me
I respond to God’s word concerning my life
and I receive God’s wisdom to help me
navigate though every circumstance.
In Jesus’ name, amen!
