Kurdistan refers to a region historically inhabited by Kurdish people, which spans across parts of several modern day countries in the Middle East, including eastern Turkey, northern Syria, northern Iraq, and western Iran. It's a term used to describe the cultural and historical Kurdish homeland, though it doesn't represent an officially recognized sovereign state. The Kurds have a distinct culture, language, and identity that transcends national borders.
