We are the Union of Affected by the Oil Operations of Texaco - UDAPT, the organization that brings together the communities affected by the contamination of the MNC Chevron, formerly Texaco. In 1993 we initiated a lawsuit against the oil company for the damages caused in the provinces of Sucumbíos and Orellana.
The UDAPT is formed directly by those affected and aims at the reparation of the northern Ecuadorian Amazon, which was impacted by oil operations under the responsibility of Chevron Corporation. It is made up of communities belonging to 6 indigenous nationalities (Waorani, Siekopaai, Siona, A'I Kofán, Shuar and Kichwa) and about 80 peasant communities settled in the contaminated area.
