The PARwise is $300, and I officially declare it as not sucking.

I personally want more spectrometers in the hands of hobbyists. Why? Historically, those with spectrometers have held the power of persuasion. If you have your own device, you can prove to yourself that ratios is a bunch marketing, that slipping the spectrum left or right when comparing a new light to ATI Blue Plus isnā€™t cool, and that once touted phat blue should still be fat.

And even better, this thing is also a PAR meter thatā€™s good enough.

Whatā€™s lacking? Exportable data. Right now the data is a cartoon, but itā€™s an accurate enough cartoon. Whatā€™s lacking? The blue peaks donā€™t exactly align, but Iā€™m sure thatā€™s something that can be dialed in with time with updates. Whatā€™s lacking? How you aim the thing will matter when testing, but you can figure that out.

For $300, itā€™s good enough. Donā€™t have access to a PAR meter? Get some of your friends together and pool your funds. Why? You should have access to a PAR meter when messing around with lighting. Want to see what your lightā€™s spectrum really looks like when you get to fiddling with those sliders? Hereā€™s your chance. Want to also see what happens to your PAR when you do the same? Do some testing and see for yourself.

This comparison is vs the Hopoocolor (green) and UPRtek (spectrum). The PARwise is the white trace. Just plug the PARwise into your Mac, PC, or Android phone, and test to your heartā€™s content. Didnā€™t try the Chromebook, but it should work there, too.

I don't know what I did to deserve this, but thank you, Sharon!!! If you had been drinking when you sent it, and you want it back, please let me know. :-)

Cheers to my buddy Bruce. We went fast together, did some eating, enjoyed a drink now and then, shot the shit (and some varmints), and laughed. Youā€™ll forever be missed. ā¤ļø
