hiya kids, lil announcement
I've set up an account on Ko-Fi, it's a platform where you can tip creators for the work they do by buying them a coffee (if you fancy ofc!!)
I know lots of you understand how much time, work and effort AND LOVE goes into this channel and these vids, so if you ever wanted to say thanks this way it would be super duper appreciated! (but no pressure!! it's just an extra little thing)
You can tip anonymously and as a 'guest' meaning you don't create an account with the platform. You can do one off tips or monthly. I've set it to suggest £4 (GBP, so $5.30 USD) but the minimum is £1, and the max is...well, whatever you fancy
ko-fi.com/emmaangeline
(watch this link not work, it'll be in my vid descriptions from now on)
ps. I'd also be SUPER curious to hear how you feel about sponsored content? Make no mistake I get a crazy amount of emails, and some from actually cool brands, but I'm always a bit cautious about it because I don't wanna feel like I'm hawking useless crap at you
pps. also for the curious, yes I do get adSense revenue, it's roughly £1 per 1,000 views (unless you're the hmrc then no it's not)
ppps. thoughts on substack??
pppps. honestly starting to think i should take my meds consistently for a year and write a novel or a collection of essays
ppppps. freelancing sucks
pppppps. i have such strong feelings free access to art, culture and education and equally strong feels on paying the people who make this stuff too lmao you can't win, but this is where you get cross at the government bc this is their job

💛 Question for the class!! 💛
I’m working on a dedicated review for a book that came out really recently
I’m wondering about doing some close reading in the vid? ie. actually analysing the language to back up some of the things I’ve said in the video?
eg. lots of the criticism this book is getting is that it’s too “on the nose” and points stuff out too much, so I wanted to go into the language and show how this is happening and what the result is. So some close analysis but then also could be writing advice too?
Most of the online discourse makes points about the book without coming with receipts… so I wanna provide the receipts
Wouldn’t be the whole vid ofc, but feels like it’s important to not miss that out
Lmk what you think?

🌸 HELP CHOOSE JUNE BOOKCLUB BOOK! 🌸
okay so I'm fresh out of inspo for the dedicated book club book for June. To recap May's was The Aeneid (it was absolutely banging) and July's will be The Count of Monte Cristo (yes, all 1,200 pages).
So for this month I was thinking something that's more:
- plot/character driven
- 250p max
- 20th Century
- female authors??
The general gist of the books I wanna do for the book club/read along as "classics we've been meaning to read"
I was thinking of doing Toni Morrison's "The Bluest Eyes", bc I've never read any of her work? Let me know your suggestions, I'm recording every book suggestion I get on to the GoodReads group btw: www.goodreads.com/group/show/1272176-sarcastic-fis…
I'm about to finish reading Han Kang's "Human Acts" which is.....intense, it's absolutely masterful but very unflinchingly graphic. So mind your own business if you catch me reading cowboy smut as a palette cleanser before June's book club book, so we have a lil time to figure out what we're gunna read. Once we have enough suggestions I'll poll them here and in the goodreads group!
Also I have no idea how to use the goodreads groups function and am flirting with the idea of using a diff app for the club, but also I dont wanna make us all download more apps but if any one has an app they like for that I'm all ears
And lastly, forgive me for not having a video up this week either, my big girl job is at an important deadline so I'm just dragging my lil bones over the finish line rn.
lots of love, Emma
ps. i hope you like book shop tours, reading vlogs and travel vlogs bc that's what's on it's waaaaaay

💛 💛 QUESTION 💛 💛 I have a question for my book gremlins (that's your collective name now btw)
Next weeks video is a new form of content I’ve been experimenting with (*cough* monthly reading vlog *cough*) and I was wondering if you’d like me to choose a “book of the month” so we can finally have a little book club??
How I propose it works:
In the April Reading Vlog, I announce the May’s book, then in May we both get time to read it, then the May reading vlog acts as our lil place to discuss it. It would be super nice to do something like this together
Yes ofc you can submit your suggestions!! I haven’t picked on for May yet so comment down below if you have an idea or dm me on ig, and any other suggestions for how you think this could work for us? And if you’re down WE NEED A BOOK CLUB NAME
Lmk your thoughts, and I’ve added a poll for the silent subscribers (dw I see you and I get you)
xoxo Emma

hiya all, long time no use of these posts, I have a question!
An upcoming video I've made (yes its a book one 👀👀) is REALLY long....as in a full 90mins, that's a literally a feature film. So It'd be helpful to know, do you want the whole video in one go or is it better to split them in too?
