Just wanted to share some super exciting news! The world record for high school rocketry was just broken a few days ago by the rocket team at Brazoswood High School. They were able to get to an altitude of 45,482 ft (which is even higher than most university groups have attained). Truly an excellent display of amateur rocketry! We were finally able to get the fiberglass Nosecone off of the mandrel (see the picture below). To do this we basically had to give the nosecone a hot water bath. The PLA softness at around 60-80°C so then the Nosecone mandrel was able to be "dismantled". We are a student organization dedicated to exploring, researching, and developing space technologies. Our first project is to design, build, test, and launch a rocket to the Karman Line, a feat that has not yet been accomplished by a European student group. Hopefully we can be the first!
