Hi everyone! This year, I've had to dip into my backup film quite a bit. After my first two-week vacation of the year, the six-week ERTMS/HSL training program began, meaning I couldn't make any new films for a total of eight weeks. The following week, I was finally able to do so again, but then it was a four-week vacation at the NS communications department, where our films are pre-screened. This coming Saturday, I hope to show the last backup film, and hopefully, the following week, I'll finally be able to show a new video.
Hallo allemaal! Dit jaar moet ik nogal eens de reservebuffer aanspreken. Na mijn eerste vakantie dit jaar van 2 weken, begon de 6 weken durende ERTMS/HSL-opleiding, waardoor ik in totaal 8 weken geen nieuwe films kon maken. In de week die volgde kon dat eindelijk wel weer, maar toen was het 4 weken vakantie op de afdeling communicatie van NS, waar onze films vooraf worden gecontroleerd. Aankomende zaterdag hoop ik de laatste reservebufferfilm te tonen, om hopelijk de week er na eindelijk weer een recente video te tonen.

After 6 weeks of course and training, successfully completed with three exams, all authorizations are in! From now on I am allowed to drive under the ERTMS regime on the Utrecht - Amsterdam and Zwolle - Lelystad track sections! In addition, I am allowed to drive on the HSL with the ICNG!
It was an intensive training. Lots of theory, simulator rides, talking, discussing, listening, practical rides - but of course also a lot of fun with each other. During this period I noticed again that we at the NS are a club of fantastic people, and I think we can be very proud, not only of ourselves, but also of our great trainers.
I can't wait to finally get back on the track with the camera, because that was already 6 weeks ago... That's why I had to draw from the Reserve Buffer for today's video, and probably next week's as well. I hope to make a new film as soon as possible! :-)
Na 6 weken cursus en training, succesvol afgesloten met drie examens, zijn alle bevoegdheden binnen! Vanaf nu mag ik onder het ERTMS-regime rijden op de baanvakken Utrecht - Amsterdam, en Zwolle - Lelystad! Bovendien mag ik met de ICNG de HSL op!
Het was een intensieve opleiding. Veel theorie, simulatorritten, praten, discussiëren, luisteren, praktijkritten - maar uiteraard ook veel lol met elkaar. Het is me tijdens deze periode wéér opgevallen dat we bij de NS een club fantastische mensen zijn, en ik denk dat we erg trots mogen zijn, niet alleen op onszelf, maar ook op onze geweldige opleiders.
Ik kan niet wachten om eindelijk weer met de camera de baan op te gaan, want dat is nu ook alweer 6 weken geleden... Vandaar dat ik met de video van vandaag, en waarschijnlijk ook die van volgende week, even uit de Reserve Buffer moest putten. Ik hoop zo snel mogelijk weer een nieuwe film te maken! :-)

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Youtube has unfortunately stopped sending email notifications to me as well. In principle, I was handling new messages via the mobile app. However, this goes wrong when a follow-up message is posted to an earlier message. These new messages do not appear at the top, so I no longer encounter them when answering comments. Good news! On the first day of 2025, although very grey and dull weather, conditions were good enough to film a ride. It is just approved by the NS and scheduled for next Saturday. Junior and Senior members can already watch the video from Tuesday morning. You might not notice, but this video marks the return of a certain logo in the leader, I wonder if that stands out :-)
Cabview Holland members have probably already noticed, but I have changed the names of the different membership levels. Puppies, Juniors and Seniors are now called 'VIP 1- Loyalty badges', 'VIP 2 - Early access' and 'VIP 3 - Buffer access'. This makes it clear what the benefits for these different levels are, and what you mean to me :-)
I have also changed the loyalty badges. New members receive a black train wheel next to their name when they leave a comment. After a month, this changes to a red train wheel. And after a year, you will receive the Cabview Holland badge! This also makes it a lot clearer for me than the original standard badges with the colored stars. This way, I can immediately recognize who has taken out a new membership, for which I can then thank them, because I don't receive any notification from Youtube that someone has taken out a membership.
In the meantime, I am already working hard on the second ride featuring a beautiful sunrise creating a fantastic early morning atmosphere.

Dear Cabview Holland fans, it's time for the very last video of 2024! Available for everyone to watch from next Saturday and as usual for Junior and Senior members already from today. In order to also give the Puppy members something extra for their support in the past year, they can also already watch this video now as a token of appreciation - hoping not to offend higher memberships.
This year I have done my utmost to make the films more beautiful and interesting, within the technical limitations and time constraints that I have to deal with. For example, the films are finally super smooth again thanks to the 60fps and, where possible, I show the exterior of our often beautiful station buildings in the intro. I have stopped filming in HDR because this resulted in very annoying compression phenomena and color deviations on the YouTube side. With a number of photographic tricks, the current SDR videos are actually almost indistinguishable from HDR in terms of dynamic range and it is a huge relief to be rid of that annoying YouTube quality degradation. In terms of content, you can find new information about the provinces I drive in during my rides since this year. From next year, I will also show an overview of my shift on the day I recorded the ride, so that you get an even clearer picture of a working day of an NS driver and be able to place the cab ride in perspective.
I am very proud to tell you that my channel has again yielded a number of new colleagues in 2024. This has once more resulted in a nice bonus via the NS Referral Program.
