Not sure if youāve heard the news, but a few days ago, our dear friend, JJ Rice (18), died due to a shallow-water blackout while free diving in Tonga. Itās still very surreal. Hard to discuss, and even harder to accept.
Jack and Kate went to Tonga to spend the summer with JJ and his family at their resort. He was an adventurous soul, skilled at scuba and free diving and everything having to do with ocean life. He was a master engineer on boat repairs and handled most of the resort maintenance.
But JJās true passion was Kite Foiling, a sport he loved and mastered, so much so that he had his eye on the Paris Olympics this year. He was a dear family friend; we loved him like a son. He was in our videos several times over the years. In fact, he was in Jackās most recent YouTube video.
Jack has now taken on the responsibility of what JJ left behind, and is doing so with great humility and determination.
All we ask is that If youāre a praying person, please lift up the entire Rice family in your thoughts and prayers. JJās parents are long time friends of ours; JJās sister is Kateās roommate at the resort. Please also keep Jack and Kate in your prayers during this difficult time. Coping with the loss of someone so close is unfamiliar territory theyāre now journeying through. Weāre all struggling right now with grief and anger and painā¦ and just so much sadness I canāt even express.
Iāll share some clips of JJās life in a future episode, when Iām able to edit them without my tears completely blurring my vision.
With love, Renee & the Z-Crew

In addition to our 2 musically talented boys, we have another brilliant guitarist in the family. Keithās oldest daughter , Tait (27), married Ben Cargo, a superstar in the making. He made a music video and I simply ask that you give him 4 minutes of your time and tap on the thumbs up šš¼ Both Tait and their 5 yr old daughter are regulars in the video š āŖ@BenCargoVEVOā¬
Much love to you all!

As my husband and I entered our mid-40s, we realized we were completely exhausted with corporate America and the effect it was having on our marriage and our kids. Something had to change. So we gathered our four kids, sold our suburban Texas home, and, regardless of having no prior sailing experience, bought a sailboat.
Our "2-year sabbatical" began in 2016, and as of today (May 2023), we've sailed over 50,000nm and have officially circumnavigated the globe! We still have three kids on board (the oldest left for college in 2020) but are continuing the sailing adventure until they head out on their own.
It's not our goal in these videos to be politically correct or show off our obviously very sexy bodies... We want to share honestly what we are experiencing on this adventure and how we are evolving as a family. We simply hope you laugh, learn, and get inspired. All videos will be rated TV-14.
Happy Sailing!
Renee & the Z-Crew
