Dean's Foreword
As Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, please permit me to mention several important facts about this institution.
The Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University was founded in 1919, shortly after World War I. Since then, it has experienced several difficulties in its development, especially during the Nazi occupation and the so-called ‘socialist experiment’ in our country in the years 1948-1989. However, a series of exceptionally competent, hardworking and dedicated people did a wonderful job and contributed to building what is now a highly respected institution that has nurtured many new physicians.
Today, the Faculty of Medicine is part of the dynamically developing Masaryk University and is one of its 9 faculties:
