"I noticed you used the Doux's new silk press press play system to silk press your hair and You/it look like the poster child for damage"
It has been fun ... but I'm out....I started Untwisted because people would start conversations with me about my hair. Because it was "regular" natural hair. I don't have big bouncy curls and my hair has never been terribly long. Starting Untwisted was a joy when the world shut down. The truth is during 2023 creating content has felt like a chore. I don't agree with the popular opinions out there today about Curly Cuts & no butter no oils drama , but have tried to stay respectful of other folks experiences while still sharing my own. Even just posting myself getting a curly cut was drama.
Forever thankful to Dr. Fo Adduni , Khristian Simone & Usone Precious for putting their regular hair out here on the internet. I love wearing wash and Gos and never considered it possible until I saw other people. Also grateful to I am Black Girl Curls for having a resource to use to learn about natural hair.
I've been actively avoiding ALL no butters no oils /Curly Cut content...because... over it. Unfortunately this week I decided to listen to a podcast on Youtube completely unrelated to natural hair and the no oils no butter/ Curly Cut content found me. Because I was listening not watching... I had no idea what the video was about or trust and believe I would have CLICKED OFF.
After listening to an influencer challenge everyone's integrity I was a little triggered.
I challenged what it meant to follow Black GIrl Curls to the "T" since most people experiment with products that aren't on the list. Someone asked for an example and I pointed out that an influencer complaining of damage was using box dye and switched to demi permanent dye.
I felt it was the most obvious product NOT on the list and could contribute to dehydration.
As a result, I was labeled the poster child for damage, in denial because I retail Trepadora, and told I have questionable character.
My hair hasn't been cut in over 5 months so I do have split ends, I have wiry grays that point in 100 different directions, and this head of hair has NEVER seen anything other than a hooded dryer or diffuser. (I can tell because my hair used to be orange and that is all grown out). There is only so much that a blow out and one pass at 390 is going to accomplish. This is Hair that is normal FOR ME.
I watched natural hair content because it was fun. I created Youtube content because it was fun. It has come to the point where I am literally avoiding natural hair content and hasn't been fun to create content for the last few months.
What really let me know it is time to go is because I am really having fun with this blow out /press. Having fun sharing...then log onto Youtube and see all of this. So I'm going to stay off the screens in the natural hair space for a while.
I do appreciate all your support since 2020 and let 2024 be the year that YOU do what you want to do in general but especially with your hair.
Best

Ended the heat styling Session with O.P.P. One Pass Press. I did just that ONE PASS...I'm not mad AT ALL I used a $30 flat iron on 390 degrees and used only one pass. In the coming days will probably use the wrap lotion, Gangsta wrap to do some bantu knots or maybe a twist out.

Long Post...Finally got a chance to use Press Play...the Doux's new thermal collection. 👌🏽 Best Blow I've ever done on myself. I'm low key obsessed with my grays. I will probably flat irons it tomorrow.
It was late and my baby boy put his daddy to bed 🤣. So I had to tap out for tonight.
This week I celebrated my 8th wedding anniversary🥂💍. i left the sappy stuff on my personal page. Let's talk hair...
Behind those bouquets are the following styles:
1.My natural hair blown out...tucked roll and pinned up.
2. Natural Hair taper with comb coils
3. Pressed Natural Hair with a few tracks
4. A bun
5. A relaxed pixie cut
6. A pony/bun hawk
7. A curly Wig
Also notice no one has on the same dress. No one has on the same shoes. I wanted coordinated not complicated. I picked a designer, a few coordinating colors and let them pick their own dresses.
I let my girls show up for me how THEY felt comfortable.
Not shown
jr. Bridesmaids in braids.
Flower girls with their curls.
I mean...literally all the hairstyles walked down the aisle that day.
I think variety is beautiful.
Trust and believe if I was this chill about hairstyles on my wedding day....how folks on the internet decide to wear/care for their hair is of little concern to me.
What does concern me is all the sensationalized content that scares women away from doing what THEY want to do with their hair.
I blew out my hair because I like trying new products and switching things up... not for an "assessment".
🥂My wish for you is that 2024 is the best year EVER because you showed up as the BEST version of yourself.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays. Santa dropped the new doux thermal styling collection . Looking forward to trying it out. It's a lot going on and I didn't even get the whole collection. Hoping the doux drops some gems about the best way to use the styling products.

There has been a lot of intense conversation about Leave -ins and Deep Conditioners and the black girl curls method. I decided to take a look back at some of the content I've created in regard to those two things. Also take a look at something that has changed over the last two years. Setting this video up as a premiere will be in the chat at 4pm est.

Hey! So, you know how it can be overwhelming when it comes to taking care of our beautiful, natural locks? I wanted to create a safe haven for women exploring and loving their natural texture. Enter: Untwisted! Our goal is to provide authentic relatable content, super innovative hair care tools and accessories that make you feel like a queen when styling your natural hair. Now, don't get it twisted (no pun intended), starting a pbrand was a scary thought for me since I've never sold physical products before. But with a whole lot of faith and perseverance, I took the plunge and launched 4 amazing products to kick off my brand. Who knows what the future holds? All I know is that it's looking oh-so-bright. I'm here to continue inspiring others.
