Hey!!! We are BACK!! And for real this time!!
We just want to let you know that we are back on YouTube starting tomorrow, Sunday.
We know many of you have so many questions about what happened to us, what really happened between us and the boatyard that was building the hull of our boat, why did we take our unfinished boat from the boatyard, and so on. So before we can move on and start actually building our boat again we need to set the records straight otherwise too many people create their own assumptions and versions of the story.
Get ready for an extremely raw, long and real video. And when I say that I mean it. It is a 1-hour and 37-minute video, one single take, no cuts — just us going through every single detail of what happened.
Our hope is to leave no doubts and to potentially help anyone thinking on commission/build a new boat not to make the same mistakes we did. So, see you this Sunday (Tomorrow)!!

Hi guys!! We just want to let you know we are alive. Since we posted our last video 2 months ago and then stopped posting on YouTube we received many emails of people worried about us and wondering if we are okay.
The short answer is: yes, we are great. The long answer is: life has been really complicated. I know that sounds confusing, so let me explain.
Personally we are doing great: Oli is growing really fast, we are all healthy and of course really busy.
So why did we disappear from social media, including YouTube?
If you watched our last video you already know we had to take our boat hull unfinished from the yard and ever since (3rd of February) we have been struggling on having a solid plan to start to finish the aluminum hull of our sailboat.
When we left the yard we thought we had a certain amount of work but it didn't take long for us to realize the size of the mess we ended up on and to get overwhelmed.
A lot of the boat is just tack welded to show progress, there are a lot of half done jobs and worse than that there are projects that the solution is not 100% designed yet. So that means there is still a lot of engineering to be done.
Of course our last video generated a lot of questions and speculation as we didn't explain in depth why we took the boat as it is from the yard. Questions like:
Why didn't the boatyard finish the hull?
Did we fully pay for the hull?
Did we stop because you ran out of money?
Did we sue the yard?
Do we have all the designs to finish the boat?
Why not take it to a yard in the Netherlands?
and so on...
The truth is, we would love to tell you the full story, but unfortunately we can't. All we can say at this moment is that the yard is in a receivership process that could either save the company or take them to bankruptcy and that is the main reason why we don't want to talk about all of that yet. Anything we say at this moment can be seen by the boatyard and by the French government as us trying to "help them to go down" and the last thing we need right now is to be sued either by the yard or by the government. We want no involvement in this process. We just want to keep building our dream boat and live this behind but unfortunately they left a mess for us to clean.
So why didn't we start to work and post videos yet? Because until last week we actually didn't know how to proceed. In the last few months we went through every kind of emotion. From not looking at the boat anymore, to almost selling the hull as it is, to going back loving the boat, to almost taking it to a really good shipyard to finish the hull, then realizing we can't afford that and so on.
So, in the middle of this mass we needed to stop and take a step back and we decided to take a break from the videos until we have an answer for all those questions as we really don't want to post one video just to stop again. We really want to restart for real so we can eventually splash the boat and sail to French Polynesia.
The good news is, we made the decision on the plan and we are working on some loose ends so we can actually start. And we are really close from that and as soon as we start making progress don't worry that we share it with you and we can go back to do what we love.
In the meantime you just need to have a bit of patience with us and wait a bit longer. Or if you like raw, unfiltered, unedited updates videos you can join us on Patreon. When I say unedited I mean a 30 minutes video that is recorded in one take of us rumbling about what is going on, what new problems we run into during the week, what are our thoughts, our brainstorming ideas for solving our problems and so on.
Before you say we just want to make videos for those who pay and who have money, honestly you are really far from reality. Not everything is about money. The truth is that half of the things we mention on these videos will never happen, it is pretty much us sharing our daily thoughts. But why don't we post those videos for everyone? First because this is a way to say thank you to our Patreons that still support us in these tough times, but also because this is a kind of video that 99% of the audience wouldn't want to watch. And also because we use our Patreon page as our psychologist. It's a way for us to put out our raw frustrations so we don't go crazy, and sometimes these frustrations could create us problems if they were posted publicly.
Sorry if that sounds like we just want to advertise our Patreon community. We just want you to know that this is an option if you want to be part of the behind the scenes of this project. But of course we totally understand if you don't want to pay for another subscription. If that is the case just be patient. I promise that soon we will be back and it will be worth it.
In the meantime
thanks so much for sticking with us. It means the world to us!!
Love
Duca, Roberta and Oli

We have no words to describe our last 9 months!! If you have been following us for a while you already know we started trying to have a baby 14 years ago. This was a long and special journey. With three different IVF attempts, two surgeries finally in the 6th of January of 2024 we got pregnant.
The past 9 months where probably the most busy months of our lives building a camper van, helping to design and build a new boat, and the best part going through such a special pregnancy journey. Yes Oli was born on September 6th 2024 and our lives are changed for ever.
We strongly believe this first months can have a huge impact on Oli's life and we don't want to miss a second of it. And for that reason we don't have an episode today.
Even though we do have content for two more boat building videos we wanted to take some time off the computer (editing) to enjoy and learn how to be parents of a new born.
Oli and Roberta are doing great. Roberta is a champion and Oli is such a cute and lovely baby. He already recognize our voices and it seem like he already know we are his parents. We are totally in love.
A quick disclaimer. Yes, from no on we might miss an weekly episode here and there, but that doesn't mean that the boat building is not moving forward. In fact it is moving faster then ever but we edit our own videos and to be honest right now we can't financially afford to have an editor so if it comes to take care of our new born or edit a video of course Oli will always win. 🥰 We just ask for a bit of patience and we will get used to our new routine in no time and will build the boat Oli will travel the world on and share it all with you.
Much love,
Duca, Roberta and Oli

grande beijo
Duca, Roberta e Oli.

gran beso

Hey!!! Unfortunately or fortunately we won't have episodes for two or three weeks. Well it's for a great reason. We are finally heading to the Caribbean. We will be off shore for 15-20 days without internet and we were so busy getting the boat ready that we couldn't edit videos in time. Well, I guess we will see you at the end of December or in January!! Love Duca and Roberta (And Ben)
Oie!!! Com amor, Duca e Roberta (And Ben)
¡¡¡Oye!!! We're Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple who purchased a 44ft steel sailboat (Dinieper Tropic 1200) that was neglected for over 22 years. After spending 2 years refitting her, we named her Odd and sailing along the Brazilian coast for a year and a half. We took a 13-day passage to the Caribbean and explored islands for 6 months, where we unexpectedly received an offer to buy our boat. So, we sold our beloved Odd and moved to France to start the building of our brand-new 43ft Aluminum Deck Saloon sailboat. Meta Chantier Naval will be responsible for building the aluminum components (hull, rudders, and keels), then we will do ourselves all the systems, furniture... As the boat construction will take a few months we are embarking on a new project to have a place to live. We purchased a van and will be transforming it into our tiny house on wheels.
We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams.
