Gewalt ohne militärische Mittel eindämmen, die zivilen Kräfte in der Gesellschaft dabei stärken, Konflikte friedlich zu regeln: Das ist die Idee des Zivilen Friedensdienstes (ZFD).
Seine Vision ist der Vernetzte Frieden: Im Zusammenspiel staatlicher und zivilgesellschaftlicher Akteure in der internationalen Zusammenarbeit befördert der ZFD lokale Partnerorganisationen auf allen gesellschaftlichen Ebenen. So werden Menschen in den Partnerländern unterstützt, ihre Konflikte gewaltfrei auszutragen und gesellschaftliche Veränderungen sowie nachhaltige Entwicklung auf Grundlage der Menschenrechte zu gestalten.
Der ZFD entsendet Fachkräfte in Krisen- und Konfliktregionen.
Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH beteiligt sich als einziger staatlicher Träger mit mehr als 100 internationalen und ebenso vielen einheimischen Fachkräften in 18 Ländern am ZFD.
