Good morning, I dug an eight foot row of my first potatoes of the year, they are called Red LaSoda. I made a video, it will be available at 5 PM today. It’s been very hot and humid here the past 3 weeks, today was low humidity and much cooler ( thankfully) so the potatoes were ready and so was I. I hope you can watch. Have a wonderful blessed day, Emily

If you have read the brief description of my channel, you see I am originally from The Missouri Ozark Mountains. They aren’t actually mountains as we think of them but once were. They are worn mountains filled with all manner of wild flowers and ice cold springs and rivers. I’m getting to be an “ old lady “ if 75 is an old lady and I relish the fact I grew up in those mountains with rivers clear to the bottom fed by icy springs that deliver millions of gallons of crystal clear water daily to the rivers that flow through canyon like paths.
I have a photo below of my grandparents “ old home place” a treasure now gone, what I’d give for one board of that cabin. It had no electricity, no running water, but coal oil lamps and drinking water carried from a spring in the woods. Every meal was cooked on a wood stove in a little kitchen with no insulation, the heat would be oppressive, don’t you think, but my grandma cooked us meals twice a day in that heat.
I can’t explain how attached I am to that place. I will be sharing stories of growing up there and a family who loved fiercely and worked that rocky soil. Stay tuned and keep cool you all.

Good afternoon. I just came in from doing some planting and then picked strawberries. I have a pest problem I have never had before, ( pill bugs ). I played with them when I was a little girl! I throw away more strawberries than I can save. They are eating as I am picking. The photo on the right is a small raised bed off my patio. When I was watering this morning I stopped to take a photo of them and they are everywhere.
Do any of you have a solution? If you do please leave a comment. They have eaten anything I plant including Brassicas, Nasturtiums, Spinach, essentially everything but onions and garlic. You all have a good day.

Hello Everyone, I hope your Saturday is enjoyable. I will have a video available tomorrow Sunday April 7 th. It’s a look at the tomato seedlings I almost threw out and started over. The photo here shows the one I repotted almost 3 weeks ago and the others in the same tray and exact conditions. Amazing results. Let me know in the comments what you think the problem was. Thank you, Emily

It’s a cold day here. We had almost 2” of rain yesterday. It should give some drought relief. I stood in a shower that moved through and planted beets and shell peas. I enjoyed it😊. I just took these pictures of the strawberries and the Blueberry plant I planted in the Fall. They are in a raised bed together. We got down to minus 15 in January and stayed in sub arctic temps for almost a week and these plants survived. Have a wonderful evening everyone.
