Be where you WANT to be and not HAVE to be.
My wife and I decided we’ll eventually have at least one other home located somewhere in the mountains.
This is going to get us into a 2nd beautiful location for the hottest time of the year. Florida being our main home. 🏝️🌤️
Here’s the plan we came up with to choose where we want our 2nd home to be…
1. Each summer, starting this year (was supposed to be last year until I got my wife prego🙌) we’ll stay in a beautiful mountain town.
2. We will rent a place in a different town each year to feel out what we really want.
3. Each year we’ll add another month we’re in the mountains. YR1 = 1 month, YR2 = 2 Months, YR3 = 3 Months… We MIGHT split locations in 1 month increments to see more areas.
4. Were going to do this until we find the “right” place we want to own a home.
5. Once we know where, we’ll keep going there until the market is prime to buy. I’m still a real estate investor! 🤣
6. We’ll live there just short of 6 months (for tax purposes and so we can be in FL during the prime season). 💰+🏖️
7. We’ll start the hunt all over again for a possible 3rd international home to enjoy. 🌍
When I moved from Minnesota to Florida I realized that being where I wanted to be had a positive impact on my personal and professional life and generally made us happier. It’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made.
