Native New Yorker, Russell Manning was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent his formative years studying under jazz bass legends Buster Williams, Eddie Gomez, and Leon Dorsey. After touring the world playing bass with various bands including Twin Shadow, Russell wanted to find new inspiration and hone his songwriting skills, so he moved to Los Angeles - as did his longtime songwriting and lyrical partner Rico Martinez.
