I’m releasing an album of duo-piano pieces I wrote for Houston Ballet a few years ago. This is the first track, “Ekstasis,” performed by pianists Timo Andres and Conor Hanick. The original ballet, Reflections, was choreographed by long-time collaborator (and good friend) Justin Peck, who is also currently creating a music-theater-dance piece based on my Illinois album. Reflections will be released May 19 on AKR. THANK YOU! Peace to you.
Two pianos are better than one.
In case you missed it, you can hear the demo version of Sufjan's “Chicago” in the opening to episode seven of “The Bear.”
You can also hear the song on Sufjan’s YouTube channel right here. - AKR
Today we're excited to share two new songs and a music video: "Back to Oz" and "Fictional California" from @AngeloDeAugustineYT and Sufjan's forthcoming album, "A Beginner's Mind," based loosely on the 1985 film "Return to Oz" and the 2004 "Bring It On Again."
Here's the video for "Back to Oz," produced by Straight to Tell, directed by Alex Horan, with character design and animation by Clara Murray.
You can buy the two songs on a 7-inch available now, or as part of the Completist Bundle which includes all three 7-inches of the singles and the 12-inch full length LP, both available at our store:

Today we’re excited to share the new video for Sufjan’s “Tell Me You Love Me,” from his newest album, “The Ascension.”
Luca Guadagnino (who also directed “Call Me By Your Name”) directed the video.
Guadagnino says: “The aching feeling of loving and wanting to be loved, the mystery of bodies that clash, the uncanny aspects of nature, the sublime music poetry and voice of Sufjan—all this went into this video that I am proud to have made with the collaboration of two more great artists, Alessio Bolzoni and Celia Hempton."
Copies of “The Ascension” available in our web store and on Bandcamp. - AKR
Sufjan Stevens is a singer-songwriter currently living in New York. A preoccupation with epic concepts has motivated two state records (Michigan & Illinois), a collection of sacred and biblical songs (Seven Swans), an electronic album for the animals of the Chinese zodiac (Enjoy Your Rabbit), two Christmas box sets (Songs for Christmas, vol. 1-5 and Silver & Gold, vol. 6-10), and a programmatic tone poem for the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (The BQE). In 2010 Sufjan released an expansive EP (All Delighted People) and the full length The Age of Adz, a collection of songs partly inspired by the outsider artist Royal Robertson. In March 2015, Sufjan released Carrie & Lowell. His most recent releases include Planetarium, an Oscar-nominated song for the film Call Me By Your Name, The Ascension (2020), and a collaboration with with Angelo De Augustine , A Beginner's Mind (2021). In Oct 2023, Stevens tenth solo studio project, Javelin, will be released.
