Who Needs Easy When Youāve Got Death Valley? ā ļø
This episode kicks off in Las Vegas, where I apparently thought, āHey, letās bike straight into the desert and climb 6,000 feet⦠for fun!ā With three possible routes to Death Valley, I chose the one with no shoulder, terrifying traffic, endless headwinds, and a nice little 40-mile uphill grind. Brilliant, right?
But all that suffering pays offābecause what comes next is one of the most glorious descents in America, straight into the lowest point in the U.S.
Come for the views, stay for the questionable life choices. This is bike touring at its most ridiculousāand most rewarding.

Zion National Park - Saturday 8am - Season 4, Episode 34
.
I did it! The goal and dream of seeing all five of Utah's National Parks became a reality on this episode. Zion National Park is just as outstanding as all the others in this wonderful state. The first day of this stretch was a brute with heavy head winds from Bryce to get to Mount Carmel Junction where I spent the night in a motel and prepared for a mind blowing ride into Zion.

New Episode uploading this Saturday the 7th at 8am. It's the section of Highway 550 from Durango to Silverton riding over two high mountain passes, Coal Bank and Molas. If you haven't been to this area of Colorado you are going to want to watch how spectacular the San Juan Mountain Range is.

Hello, Everyone. Ā
Here is a snapshot of a future episode while riding thru New Mexico's Sanger de Cristo Mountains. Aspens and Cottonwoods were out of this world. Ā
I am currently preparing for this year's tour and wanted to give a heads up. The time has come for me to pack it up and get back on the road. The plan is to edit ahead as much as I can and upload an episode every two weeks so I can buy myself enough time to do a north to south crossing of the country from Vancouver, Canada to Tecate, Mexico. The idea is to ride thru the Cascade and Sierra Nevada Mountain Ranges visiting five National Parks; Mount Rainer, Crater Lake, Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon. Also, the Mojave and Anza-Borrego Deserts which I have been dreaming of returning to.
If you enjoy my content and would like to contribute please do so. I am, for the most part, self funded and could use your help. These projects take insane amounts of effort, time, and money. It is now, when I go on tour and gathering content, that I need the most support. You can do so by joining the Patreon platform or more directly thru PayPal or Venmo. I thank you and look forward to growing my channel with more bicycle touring content to share with you.

Welcome to Flyscout Ryder ā Bicycle Touring Across America
I'm Diego, and this channel is all about what it really takes to travel by bicycle in the United States. Through the challenges, rewards, and everything in between, I document the day-to-day reality of life on the road so you can see what itās likeāand maybe give it a shot yourself.
Bicycle touring changed my life by shifting how I see the world and the people in it. I believe it can do the same for you.
You'll find my journey organized by seasons (1ā4), with corresponding episodes in the Playlists tab. From cross-country rides and National Parks to rail trails like the Great Allegheny Passage, I show the process as it happensācamping, route-finding, gear, weather, and all.
Whether you're planning a coast-to-coast ride, a weekend overnighter, or just want to see what it's like to live off a loaded bike, this channel is here to guide and inspire you.
