While up in the Northern part of England with @rockgod2004 & @scottthemoviecritic8576 we watched “Salem’s Lot” (2024) on the big screen.

A author returning to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot takes time out to get ideas & thoughts for a new book, while there deaths & strange activities start happening.

A huge fan of the original & I went into this not expecting too much & despite the bad reviews on this,it’s well made, creepy & entertaining & it’s not a complete copy as some scenes were different & the director Gary Dauberman done his own version.
Only slight cripe towards the ending it goes a bit like “From Dusk till Dawn” highly enjoyable, ignore the reviews & one scene I jumped out of my chair 🤣

A bold & fresh movie for once, surprised that Hollywood didn’t follow the usual & tired formula.
The movie is beautifully shot with close ups, wide shots & above head height shots also, it’s visually stunning.
Demi Moore puts in one of her finest performances from her career, Dennis Quaid also is fun in his quirky role, & expect big things from Margaret Qualley, although the movie went a little over the top towards the end for me, this body horror-dark comedy could be one of the surprise hits of the year.
Highly recommended.

Another Hollywood loss singer, songwriter & actor Kris Kristofferson passed away on Sept 28th aged 88yrs of age.
Found fame as a country singer & songwriter then into a acting, his most notable roles from his career Sam Peckinpah’s “Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid”(1973) my fav.
“Alice doesn’t live here anymore” (1974) “A star is born” (1976) where he won a Golden globe for best actor.
“Semi tough”(1977) “Convoy” (1978), “Heaven’s Gate” (1980) & also in the “Blade” superhero movies.

Sad news on hearing the passing of John Ashton who passed away 76yrs of age on Sept 26th after a battle with cancer.
Movie fans will recognise him as Detective Sergeant John Taggart in the first two & recent Beverly Hills Cop movies, but my favourite role from his was in Martin Brest’s action comedy “Midnight Run” (1988) starring Robert De Niro, Charles Grodin, Yaphet Kotto where he played the hilarious bounty hunter Marvin.

Ellen Ripley crash lands on a bleak wasteland where a maximum security prison is located, as she begins to recover, prisoners & guards are getting killed off in a prison without any weapons or modern technology.

A big ask to follow the previous classic first two Alien movies, while the story & setting of a Prison drama of survival looks a cool idea, the visuals are a big step down from the earlier movies but it does have it’s moments with a decent cast.
Could of been so much better, most fans will feel it’s a little clunky & disappointing.
