This is TODAYs harvest of mulberries just picked up off the ground and tarp. They are not huge by any means but there sure are a LOT of them! I suppose you can see why I am so interested in getting some cuttings to grow so I can put this "tree" in my mini-orchard back in Florida.
Oh so sweet!

Here is a sample of what 32 pounds of tomatoes from the freezer can add to your pantry. Twenty One pints of crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato juice along with a quart plus of tomato powder.
Who says you can't grow food in a small space?

Funny, I'm whining about temperatures going below 40f tonight, but my Mom sent me a picture of her driveway this morning.

Took a bit of a road trip the other day to see something I haven't seen up close in a LONG time. Over the years I've been down to Cape Kennedy for Gemini, Apollo and the Shuttle but it's been a lot of years since I watched a launch in person (other than from the front porch).
It was well worth the trip!

Well, the time has come for me to hit the road headed back to Florida. But in true Geeky tradition, I'll be starting out by heading a bit farther north. Internet will be spotty for a week or two but I'll be recording what I can along the way and play catch-up when I get home.

My first tentative step into the part-time #vanlife genre in a LONG time. I'll be checking in when I can but internet may be sketchy for a bit.

Difficult to say just where this channel is going to wind up. I retired from a State position as a computer programmer in 2017 - thirty five years of pure hard-core GEEK. Could never figure out why people chose to WORK for a living when I got to PLAY for a living!
So, of course, now I am into gardening a bit, learning food storage techniques, learning from scratch cooking and baking and investigating animals like chickens, rabbits, goats and pigs.
You may see gardening, my fumbling attempts to produce food, perhaps a few Arduino or R-pi projects, possibly a DIY RV build (scratch that - Mom gave me her RV Van), solar, wind or hydro power, NON-expert building projects (remember, ex-State emp means not much money) and anything else that strikes my fancy.
I'm currently in Central Florida in zone 9b, where the first & last frost dates are often the same date, and some years don't happen at all. So if you need a green fix in the dead of winter come on down!
