Our latest video dives into creating strong passwords, and I wanted to share a few reminders. Remember that your password should be at least 12 characters long and include a mix of letters, numbers and special characters. Avoid common words and easily guessable info like birthdays.
Also a helpful tool as mentioned in the video was the use of a password manager! Which can store complex passwords for all of your accounts so that you don't have to remember them all. This adds an extra layer of security and convenience.

How Safe Is MFA/2FA?
In the early days, signing into websites and online services was as straightforward as entering your user name and password. However as cybercriminals have developed more advanced techniques, the need for stronger security measures has become critical.
While 2FA/MFA isn't foolproof it remains a strong deterrent against unauthorized access.
How does it work? After entering your username and password you receive a code to verify your identity, either through a code generator or an SMS text message. However a recent attack has shown that bad actors can intercept the SMS text message and use the 2FA code to gain access to your account. And unfortunately this normally happens without you even knowing.
Is there a solution? YES!
The hack targets SMS authentication/text messages, so instead of using this method you can opt for:
🔔 Standalone 2FA Apps: There are several apps available at Apple's app store and Google Play Store. These apps generate codes for various services you use. Examples include - andOTP - OTP Authenticator (for Android) or Twilio Authy Authenticator (For Android) Twilio Authy (for IOS)
🔔Push Notifications: When available opt for push notifications from the official app to verify your identity. These notifications are generated by the company and sent through the app on your phone, making them much harder to hack.
🔔Code Generators: The most secure 2FA method is using a timed code generator. Services like Facebook, Microsoft, Google, and many banking apps offer this. A 6 digit code is displayed for a short time and is only valid within that period. Examples: Microsoft Authenticator (Android or IOS) / Google Authenticator (Android or IOS)
