We are an environmental education center in the Sandia Mountains east of Albuquerque, New Mexico on 128 acres owned by Albuquerque Public Schools (APS), and jointly run by APS and the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science (NMMNHS). The center has been teaching programs for students since 1967.
We provide Ecology Field Programs for all 5th graders in Albuquerque Public Schools, and for many from Rio Rancho Public Schools and other area schools. Our educators additionally lead statewide outreach programs, public events, teacher workshops, and design outdoor education curriculum.
** Please note that the SMNHC and its trails are not open to the public, except for special events.**
