This post is about the Mario Kart Midnight series of mods and this channel as a whole. If you are not interested or familar, you can keep scrolling.
In March of this year, I announced that I would be discontinuing the Mario Kart Midnight series of mods. I created Mario Kart Midnight to be the change I wanted to see in the community. I felt as if it was almost impossible for custom track creators to have their work played without going through CTGP. But CTGP has their own standards for what they accept and deny, so it felt like all creators had to conform to those standards whether the liked it or not. Through Mario Kart Midnight, I created a system where tracks that might not have been as polished or as competitively viable could get widespread attention. I would use my publicity as a content creator and streamer to play tracks as they released, then ask my audience their thoughts on every track to find out which ones were the most liked and disliked. I'm very grateful for the help I recieved from ZPL, TheGamingBram, Demonz, and Gabriela in getting it to work.
After the original edition of Mario Kart Midnight did so well, I knew I wanted to step things up. I reached out to my good friend CLF78, the creator of the Mario Kart Wii Hide & Seek mod, and shared my vision to create a modpack that was more casual oriented than CTGP. This was in a pre-pulsar world, so a lot of the features we take for granted today had to be made from scratch. We did not finish in time for Mario Kart Midnight 2's release, but Pulsar had come out by then so I threw something quick together myself with Gabriela helping carry coding stuff over from Midnight 1.
By the time Mario Kart Midnight 2 had come out, my main channel (@MayroSMM) began picking up steam again. I had previously tried to rebrand this place into becoming my main channel, but I finally figured out how to make Mario Kart videos perform well on the bigger platform. This meant all aspects of topics I was passionate about could be represented there and I didn't need to hone in on just Mario Kart anymore. Especially with the rise of series such as Nightmare Mario Wii over there, I found that dedicating all my time to just Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart Midnight was counterproductive and hurting my business.
Now, well beyond when Mario Kart Midnight 3 should have released, I'm sitting here having only polled about two thirds of the 2024 tracks with about 10 custom music files made out of the 400+ I'll need for the full release. Mods like Retro Rewind have taken over the playerbase making it easier than ever for people to get into Mario Kart Wii and custom tracks. There are lots of modern packs that give the spotlight to lesser known creators now, and I'm here trying to make a pack about tracks that are outdated by a year and a half. The need for the Mario Kart Midnight series has passed, and for that reason I'm choosing to end it.
Here's what's going to happen with the projects:
Mario Kart Midnight 1 is still set to recieve one more update in the future, but I do not know when that'll be. @Luminator created a song for Stereo Madness, and while I'm adding that I may as well update all the other courses to their latest versions.
Mario Kart Midnight 2 will recieve one more update to add the rest of the backlogged tracks that should have been added like a year ago. Again, I don't know when this will be.
Mario Kart Midnight 3 will release all in one go whenever it's ready. Instead of starting with the 200 best tracks and adding a backlog over time, all however-many-hundred tracks will be available at launch. It will be a Pulsar pack just like Mario Kart Midnight 2 was. I will be working on the custom music files on my Twitch channel instead of doing them all in secret like I used to. There are still four months left to be polled, so if you'd like to vote on which tracks get included you should visit this server: discord.gg/PSBBuUa2Qe
Beyond Mario Kart Midnight 3, the code project with CLF78 is also cancelled. We had planned to combine forces with the Variety Pack team to create a collaboration project (aptly titled Midnight x Variety Pack or MVP). CLF78, Brawlboxgaming, and the other collaborators helped tremendously over the years but all of us would like to move on from the project and pursue our own passions. The source code for everything that was made for the project is now public, so any modders who want to use it are free to do so as long as credit is provided: github.com/CLF78/Midnight-Variety-Pack. We will not be providing assistence on how to use the source code. It's best left to other developers and coders if you don't know how to use it.
Mario Kart Midnight 4 will likely never happen. I still intend to continue playing every Mario Kart Wii custom track, and maybe I'll make more distributions in the future as well, but I am no longer interested in trying to compete with the big distributions or trying to be a big name in the modding community. There is a chance I choose to make something similar to Midnight in the future without the community voting aspect, but I am making no promises.
As for the NuoKart channel itself, I am unsure what I want to do with it. I have recently repurposed my @BookofMayro channel to be a dumping ground for side content, and Mario Kart will probably be dumped there now as well. I am very grateful for the community I have built here over the years, and maybe there will be a revival one day. But that day is not now. At the moment, my only intentions for this channel are livestreaming custom track reactions and uploading release videos for Mario Kart mods. If you have any suggestions for how to rebrand the channel, please let me know.
Thanks for reading this long essay. I hope you all have a great day.

Mario Kart Midnight 2 v1.1 is out now! It adds 10 new cups (that's 40 new tracks!), adds brand new music exclusive to the mod composed by Dakota and Nah Tony, and updates a billion tracks to their latest versions. Just like usual, you can choose to download the mod with no custom music if you would prefer to use your own music pack or if your SD card doesn't have the space for ~500 BRSTM files.

Heya, a few people have asked me whether I'll be uploading my perspective in collabs I've recently done with Troy. My answer is yes, but I need some time. I'm spending most of my time on my other two channels right now, but once I finish Brothership I'll be able to edit my perspective down (and maybe some of our cut matches). I told Troy not to bother waiting for me because I could be a while!
Hide and Seek is here to stay. There is an NMeade Hide and Seek collab on custom tracks recorded, and we have plans to record more in the future :)

If you play or used to play CTGP, you NEED to read this!!
Bean has been convinced to poll for Mushroom Peaks' removal. If you currently play CTGP or used to play but stopped, now is your REAL chance to have your voice heard. This isn't the usual type of poll where it gets overwhelmingly voted for removal and then nothing happens. This one is dedicated to Mushroom Peaks specifically and Bean is on board.
I am not telling you what to vote. You are all aware of what my opinion is, but you are just as welcome to vote for it to remain. Please do not vote if you do not play Mario Kart Wii CTs, and please vote only according to your own opinion rather than what you think will make me happy.

If you only want Mushroom Peaks to stay because of Time Trials or competitive formats that take place outside of CTWW, read this: x.com/Mayro2020/status/1851097697484173407

Mario Kart Midnight update!! The region for v1.5 was approved but the one for v2.0 was rejected so I have to resubmit it I guess. The update will FINALLY come out soon. But also Paper Mario just came out and this isn't my only channel or even my main channel so I do have to give it second priority when it comes to grinding content. But SOON!!!

I'm working on a video about putting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe music into Mario Kart Wii. If it ends up doing well, which OST should I put into MKWii next?

Edit: Will close form on May 13th 12am BST!
Hey, running another community vote by you! For just the form, click here (warning it's long): forms.gle/nRUdPmY5AE5GTZhA9. The rest of this post will be rambly updates which you may ignore if you are not interested or do not know me.
So I recently did a series showcasing the results from my huge OST knockout bracket which culminated in an 8 and a half hour mega ranking video. It's the longest video I've ever edited and to be honest, I really enjoyed making it. Over the last year, I've not really been okay, and I think it's affected my ability to do any content like I've ever known how. My main channel is rapidly losing growth, and I stopped really posting here too. Or really anywhere. Live commentary, and even post commentary has felt too much for me. But I am not interested in living a life without this creative aspect, so I will keep trucking along to find something that works! And I think I might have a potential answer.
Between the OST video and the Mario Kart Midnight polling, I think I just really love working with numbers and looking at community feedback and spreadsheets and stuff. I do not have a background in statistics or anything like that, it's just something I find interesting. And so, I would like to experiment with more community voting-based videos where I don't have to talk a lot. Just to see how it feels.
The form above is for "viewers create a Mario Kart Wii music pack", and it's about choosing tracks in Mario Kart Wii that would fit with different songs from Mario Kart 8. The idea is that I'll leave it up for a week, then make a video on which song is most fitting for each track. So it would be kinda like the OST videos but a bit different. And if it's a format that works, I could expand it to other OSTs while still keeping the Mario Kart theme of this channel.
I have a lot of unique ideas that I think this format could work for. I'm not saying I'll never do live commentary again. And I'll still livestream and stuff. But right now, this is what I'm comfortable with. Thanks for reading!

I'm just a gal who plays hacks Mario Kart games in unique and interesting ways. I used to be on a quest to be the biggest Mario Kart channel, but now I channel my passion into a mod called "Mario Kart Midnight". You may use clips from my videos or streams whether it be for memes, compilations, or just uploading your favorite moments. Just please don't reupload full videos or streams :)
