I've been a UK Athletics Coach in Running Fitness for 10 years, and running has defined me for many years, continuing to be a significant part of my life. As a coach, I work with athletes of all levels, from high-performing marathon runners aiming for sub-2:40 times to absolute beginners just starting their journey. I take pride in having introduced over a thousand new runners to the sport. My training programs, outlined in my books, have proven transformative for both new and experienced runners alike.
My own running journey has been filled with significant achievements later in life. At 51, I won the Irish Over 50s National 50k Championship, a testament to my dedication and love for the sport. More recently, in April 2024, at the age of 54, I achieved a personal milestone by running 2:54 in the Manchester Marathon. For someone who took up the sport later in life, these accomplishments are particularly meaningful. If I can achieve these goals, so can you.
