Dr. Tasha Potter will officially become the next Superintendent of the Penfield Central School District on September 1st. The Town of Penfield is thrilled to announce its first-ever Community Health and Wellness Fair, which will be held on Friday, August 23, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Penfield Community Center (1985 Baird Road). The family-friendly event will feature health, safety, and wellness organizations throughout the area. The event highlights an opportunity for kids to get an up-close experience with a variety of equipment from Penfield DPW, Penfield Fire Department, and Penfield Volunteer Emergency Ambulance. The Rochester Regional Mobile Mammography Center will be in attendance, offering free mammograms. Food trucks and entertainment will also be at the event.

Development projects in Penfield, whether minor improvements to a single-family home or significant commercial developments, require an application and undergo a review process dictated by the Penfield Town Code. Penfield Community Robotics and the Town of Penfield are partnering to host the community fundraiser event Grateful Red Music Festival on Saturday, August 17, 12:00 to 6:00 PM at Penfield Amphitheater and Kiwanis Stage, located behind Penfield Town Hall at 3100 Atlantic Avenue. This event will feature music, food trucks, kid’s activities, and robotics demonstrations by Penfield’s FIRST Robotics Teams FIRST LEGOⓇ League, FIRST Technical Challenge team 6996 Oncoming Storm, and FIRST Robotics Challenge team 1511 Rolling Thunder. Musical performances by local bands will include No Child Left Behind, Jeremy Button, The Handle Vandals, and Quiet Lunch. Participating food trucks will be The Melt Truck, Que Chévere, and Smoothies Plus. This event is open to the public. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids and can be purchased at the event. Grateful Red benefits the Penfield Community Robotics program, which includes the previously mentioned teams.

The Penfield Community Center parking lot will undergo milling and paving starting Thursday, June 20, with work expected to be completed by Wednesday, June 26.
During the project, sections of the parking lot will be closed. Please follow all posted signs and instructions from highway crew members directing traffic onsite. All departments and services at the Community Center will operate as usual during normal business hours throughout the project. Please note that weather conditions may affect the scheduled times.
