Hey Interactive Biology fam! 👋
I just wrapped up something pretty intense—a 75-day mental and physical challenge called 75 Hard. Throughout this journey, I learned so much about the biology of my own body—from how my muscles respond to intense training, to how hydration, nutrition, and mindset all play a role in performance and recovery.
This challenge wasn’t just about physical changes; it gave me a whole new perspective on how interconnected our systems are and how powerful consistent habits can be.
💪 Here’s what’s exciting: I plan to dive deeper into the biology of fitness here on the channel! Expect videos that break down what happens in our bodies during exercise, how different training styles impact muscle growth, the science of hydration and recovery, and even some of the tech that's out there to help optimize health and fitness. My goal? To make biology fun and give you tools to understand your own body on a deeper level (by making it PRACTICAL).
If you’ve got specific questions about how our bodies work during exercise, tech for health, or ideas for this series, drop them below! ⬇️
Excited to explore this new journey with you!

Had the amazing opportunity of going to the Google Bay View campus in Mountain View, California to share the story of Interactive Biology on a panel discussion with the VP and GM of Discovery Ads for Google. Since it's Black History Month here in the U.S. they invited us to do a panel discussion titled "How Brand Visibility Can Shape The Next Wave of Successful BIPOC Ventures".
It was an honor to share the story of Interactive Biology and give the engineers and product developers insight into how we use the platforms they are creating and how they can better support and highlight people of color. I am really honored to be a part of that conversation.
Side note: That campus is AMAZING!

After not being in a classroom for so long, I spent last week working with 2nd through 12th graders at the Learning Unlimited Preparatory School in St. Maarten (my home island). We spoke about topics like entrepreneurship, bullying, and cyberbullying. It was an amazing and impactful experience. These kids were AMAZING
I even recorded a music video with the 9th graders about Biodiversity. I can't wait to share that one with you. Stay tuned!
Side note: It was so much fun to be back in the classroom!

I'm thinking about recording interactive biology music videos teaching biological concepts. Should I do it?

Interactive Biology is a channel created by Leslie Samuel with the mission of making biology fun for students and teachers worldwide. We do this by breaking down biological concepts in a way that if a freshman in high school wanted to understand graduate-level neurobiology, with enough discipline, she could do so. So go ahead, watch, enjoy, and learn.
