The Late Empire is upon us!!
Our channel always had a focus on the classic Roman army of the Principate (1st - 2nd centuries AD). We worked hard to give you the most detailed and high quality videos with deep dives into the lives of common soldiers. All the while, your comments asking us to cover the late Roman army have been piling up. So after covering fascinating topics like military ranks, logistics, battle mechanics, and weapon production of the army of the Principate, we finally decided to remake all of them for the late Roman army! We are already hard at work, so you can expect the first two videos in April. We will still be releasing videos on the Principate alongside them!
Equally fascinating and sophisticated, the late Roman army was known for its innovation, and in many ways, it was much more efficient and durable than the legions of old. It is our goal to bring all of this to light in future videos, and challenge your knowledge and image of this more perfected war machine, tried and tested by endless battles!
After all, our channel wouldn't be "History of the soldiers" if we didn't do justice to all the soldiers of the Empire! If you wish to support our channel or suggest any video ideas, you can do so through our Patreon, for which we will be eternally grateful: www.patreon.com/c/HistoriaMilitum

Historia Militum is currently hiring script writers!
If you have a passion for history and think you can replicate our writing style and level of depth and research, we are happy to announce that you can join our team to make history!
In the past, we have unfortunately received and rejected a lot of trial scripts from people using AI generated content, and because our channel is based only on human effort and covers video topics that could not be possibly generated by AI technology, we require you to choose, research, and write about any of the below topics, which align with our channel’s depth and quality. With this short trial script, we hope to acquire some talented researchers who can work with us and contribute to the greater good of creating quality videos for the public!
Choose any of the below topics:
- Pick a republican auxiliary (or mercenary) unit and give us an archeological blueprint of them
- Pick a piece of a legionary’s equipment and explain its origin and evolution. Provide archeological examples.
- The Categories and hierarchy of Roman cities
- Evolution of Roman fortifications from the Principate to the late Roman empire (with examples of structural changes)
- The political and/or economic reforms of any emperor (in deep detail)
- Any topic of your choice with an equally niche, interesting, and in-depth topic as the ones above that would befit our channel and audience.
Requirements:
- A summary of up to 500-1000 words explaining your content and what will be discussed
- A table of contents, with a short summary of every section.
- A short list of the most important sources that will be used (both primary and secondary)
Applications to be submitted to: historiamilitum@lighthouseagents.com
Further work details and pay can be discussed through the email, as it would depend on workload, experience, delivery time, etc.

Big announcement:
We are in the process of developing a historically accurate video game set in Ancient Rome with an emphasis on battle simulation!
In our series of "What ancient battles really looked like", I have noted the lack of proper historical portrayals of battles in games and pop culture. In an effort to do something about this issue, I have pledged our channel to serve as the historical consultants for "Project Legatus", where we will join forces with a skilled team of artists and programmers to give every one of you a chance to experience ancient warfare as closely to reality as possible.
To help us make the game everything you wish it to be, please take a moment to answer this survey so we can better understand your individual expectations: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf5GiefEuQgCq2igP…
This project will require a colossal amount of time and effort which could last years, but we will make sure to not sacrifice quality for a quick release, and will keep the channel's video uploads as the primary focus.
(Sneak-peek: we have plans to set the game in the 1st Roman Civil War (Marius vs Sulla) and let you play as a general in charge of a dynamic force which needs your constant tactical and logistical decision making to achieve victory)

This week we posted the final episode of our "Dacian Wars" series, our longest and most detailed documentary series yet. If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend watching it on our channel because it gives a complete breakdown on how the Romans waged war, colonized land, and Romanized local communities to a shocking level of effectiveness.
With the series' end, its now time to select a new series to draw the whole channel's attention to! Below are some of the most requested topics for your selection. If you have any other suggestions, please add it to the comments.
Our Patreons will have superior voting power, as a token of our gratitude in making our videos possible. If you wish to join our team, have a say in future videos, improve our quality, or speak to me personally, consider signing up as our Patreon: www.patreon.com/HistoriaMilitum

The great showdown between Dacia and Rome is back!
We continue our series on one of Rome's greatest challenges - the Dacian Wars. In this video, Trajan performs one of his best tactical maneuvers, turning the tables on the Dacians and miraculously coming out on top - a feat that earns him the title of one of "Optimus Princeps", the greatest Emperor of Rome...

Spartans - form phalanx!!
Many call themselves true fans of ancient history, but don't understand the fascinating nitty-gritty of how combat was actually performed. Our latest video was created to address the most popular myths, theories, and studies and simulate an accurate replica model of close up battles. Unless you are an expert or scholar on ancient warfare, this video will be WELL worth your time!
This video was a suggestion made by a Patreon. If you have any video suggestions, feel free to sign up and message me your ideas. I look forward to discussing them with you: www.patreon.com/HistoriaMilitum

This here is the best quality video we have to date, both in terms of research and animation...
To the amazing people who already saw it, I ask you to please re-watch it at least in part; we need to get it to 200k views in the next few days!
And if you haven't seen it, I promise it will be worth your time to witness the truly INSANE organization and logistics of a 2000 year old civilization... it sometimes keeps me up at night, haha.
