Hey everybody — I've just uploaded my cover of a favourite 90s song of mine: Fade Into You by Mazzy Star. I've been sitting on it for awhile, wondering if I should put it here or not. I often wonder if I should start a second channel just for my music and keep this one for my films alone, but I figured I should just put everything here for now. I'll also be uploading some original songs and other covers in the near future.

As for short films/video essays, I'll be dedicating my time to those whenever I decide to freelance again, since I'm currently making YouTube videos full-time for other channels (currently Capital.com).

Anyway, hope you enjoy the song!

Hey, just a general update: Working on a few video ideas. One of them pertains to liminal spaces and "non-places", another is an exploration of decision-making and "overchoice". Also, watching the trailer for Linklater's new Netflix project "Apollo 10 1/2" made me think about revisiting rotoscoping and giving it a proper deep-dive. I dismissed it kind of unfairly in my Ghibli essay and I think it's actually really cool and worth some analysis and exploration.

Just to give you an idea of what's on deck. Still making videos full-time for other channels, which gives little time for my own, but I haven't abandoned this one—and don't plan to anytime soon. Thanks for sticking around.

Why are so many people quitting their jobs? What is 'antiwork' all about? What on earth is the 'productivity–pay gap'? If you have any of these questions, then boy do I have the film for you! My latest short doc for Reuters digs into these questions, exploring what's behind 'The Great Resignation' and the rise of an online community calling for the abolition—or, at least reformation—of work as we know it.

I spoke to a lot of really interesting people for this one. Hope you enjoy it and find it informative!

Hey everyone, thought I'd share my latest film about flooding in the US. This was a really interesting one to research and write—there's so much more to the experience of flooding in America than I ever knew. If you're interested, please give it a watch!

As for my own channel, I will (eventually) be making more films of my own. I have some ideas I've been mulling over the past little while. I'd like to make a short series exploring the history of home media, from radio to streaming video. I've also been mulling over a film about decision-making in a world inundated with overwhelming options, and a personal essay about searching for yourself in a big city.

Anyway, I hope you're all well, and thank you so much for subscribing (and for sticking with me through many long video droughts).

Hi everybody! I've just finished a new video about the potential climate impact of cryptocurrencies for the Thomson Reuters Foundation, where I work as a video producer.

This topic has been in the news a lot, and you may have heard that Elon Musk recently dropped Bitcoin as an accepted currency at Tesla, citing its of fossil fuels for the 'proof of work' process that secures its blockchain.

I knew next to nothing about cryptocurrencies before making this, so it was really interesting to dive into, and it turns out there's more nuance to the story than is often reported.

You can watch it here if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQTNy...

I'll be releasing around one video/month on that channel, so subscribe to TRF if you're interested in more of my content, more frequently!

As for my channel, I do have plans for more videos — delving into the history of a certain ubiquitous technology, for one, along with an idea for an animated music video and maybe finding a way to visualize a personal essay I've been working on.

So, stay tuned, as usual, and thank you for subscribing!

Hey everyone - here's my latest film about the history of 'new math' - the much-maligned midcentury experiment in math instruction that got a lot of people thinking about how and why kids should learn math, how to reform the curriculum, and whether it's a good idea to label something as 'new' (Coke didn't have any luck with that either).

It's certainly an obscure tale, but it's about more than math - it's about a moment in American history when people were grappling with what it meant to be an American, the concept of western values, and how to instill them in the nation's children even through subjects as seemingly secular and objective as mathematics.

I hope some of you find it as interesting a subject as I have.

Hey everyone! It's been awhile. I'm not dead. Just a heads up that I'll be uploading a film later this week, probably Wednesday or Thursday. It's a documentary about a pretty obscure topic in American history that your parents might remember from their school days. Stay tuned!

Hey everyone! My new video premieres tomorrow at noon. I've been working on this one over a year, and I'm super excited to finally share it with you. It's about satellite collisions, space debris, and what they could mean for the future of spaceflight. I hope you like it! Check in November 2nd at 12pm EST to watch.
