RPCS3 (PS3 Emulator) has received a massive performance boost for low-end PCs

The latest update for RPCS3 has increased the SPU optimization allowing for much better performance on "weak" PCs, notably the ones with 4 cores /4 threads CPUs.

One of the games tested was Demon's Souls in which the performance pretty much doubled after the update, going from ~36FPS to ~76FPS.

These optimizations are available starting on ver. 16614 of the emulator.

For those of you emulating games on PC, do you prefer keeping it original and playing with a controller or with a keyboard?

PPSSPP (PSP Emulator) is back on the iOS store.

The best PSP emulator, PPSSPP, is available again for iOS devices. On May 30 the emulator was removed from the Apple store due to the "built-in Homebrew store violating someone's copyright".

As of today the emulator is back and even better than before, they improved the performance and fixed some bugs during this downtime.

Super Mario 64 gets a level maker mod.

The original Mario 64 has received the "Mario Maker" treatment and there's a mod that allows you to design original levels for the game.

"Mario Builder 64" is a ROM hack, meaning that you need to use the base game for it to work, it's not a stand-alone release (so it has a chance avoiding the Nintendo ninjas) and was built on top of the source code of SM64: Beyond the Cursed Mirror, a popular enhancement mod. Be aware that it's only supported on flashcard and emulators, specifically only emulator that support virtual SD card emulation.

Duckstation (PS1 Emulator) now has a 3D screenshot feature.

The best PS1 emulator Duckstation can now take 3D screenshots from its games on a custom unofficial build, by dumping the level model and textures from the angle you choose, and it's saved on a .OBJ format so you can manipulate with any software compatible. A couple of screenshots from DozeD9 on Twitter below:

Suyu (Nintendo Switch) is planning a comeback with a new development team.

Suyu took over development after Yuzu was taken down as part of the lawsuit from Nintendo earlier this year, however the development was halted amid controversy and mismanagement from its head developer, on top of the source code being referred as "radioactive" as it allegedly featured "illegally obtained files". You can read more about that here: pastebin.com/6FYdz9Sr

Now a new development team is planning on bringing the emulator back, no ETA yet as they are slowly analysing the source code and making sure everything is ok. Source: www.reddit.com/r/suyu/comments/1crp3h3/some_suyu_n…

Zelda's Majora Mask has received a unofficial PC Port, and thanks to a new tool it's now possible to port any Nintendo 64 game to PC much easier than you think.

"N64 Recompiled" can recompile Nintendo 64 ROMS into C code that can be compiled to any platform, allowing for Nintendo 64 games to be unofficial ported to PC with just a few steps.

This port of Majora's Mask features high framerate, widescreen and ultra widescreen, low input lag, gyro aim and more. Banjo-Kazooie, Rocket Robot and Superman 64 have also been successfully ported as well.

The tool is available here: github.com/Mr-Wiseguy/N64Recomp
