Founder of Survivors of Parental Hoarding & Mental Illness (SOPHMI).
I grew up in the hoard. 🤦🏽♀️ Yup, I have a parent who hoards. I swore I’d never become like her, and though my house in neat and tidy, I often hear the same distorted ideas coming out of my mouth, similar skewed expectations in my thinking. Growing up in the hoard is a big deal and takes effort and support to overcome. I heal out loud because I suffered in silence for too long, and I share my family’s dirty secret to empower others like me to start their own healing journeys. There is hope and healing after hoarding. I'm also a clinical social worker (psychotherapist) who specializes in treating adult children who survived their parent's hoarding as well as working with people who hoard (PWH).
