By focusing on a particular theme they choose, U.S. middle/high school students and teachers participating in NP:J gain in-depth knowledge of a particular element of Japanese culture while stateside, followed by a two-week visit to Japan which reinforces their studies:
JAPAN OUTREACH INITIATIVE (JOI) | laurasian.org/joi
Through volunteer Japanese coordinators, JOI promotes awareness and understanding of Japan in regions of the U.S. with relatively few Japan-related activities and opportunities for exchange. The program is open to U.S. nonprofits and educational institutions committed to promoting learning about Japan.
THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE EDUCATION ASSISTANT PROGRAM (J-LEAP) | laurasian.org/jleap
J-LEAP brings native Japanese language assistant teachers to U.S. K-12 educational institutions for up to two years.
