The Summer City Pop project is now completed and it's time for a quick debrief:
- 100 new tracks have been created, among which 45 passed the 1st stage of QA
- 34 tracks passed 2nd stage of QA
- Among these, 11 are considered as being major tracks that have been published separately from the long format video
- Some of the tracks have minor defects that trigger my OCD, but I play it zen, aware that what I'm doing now wasn't even possible a year ago
- 104 brand new illustrations were generated; less than half are in use
- The overall amount of work was massive, but the channel might finally have found its visual language
- Main lesson: gen-AI requires a lot of filtering and selection
- I had to buy extra Midjourney compute time on four occasions in order to get what I want
A big thank you to the people who read this post, share, like and subscribe. This channel is a big experiment and a way to extend the 1980s.

Some videos are harder to make than others, and I'm not talking about anything technical or even artistic. It's all about feelings, emotions; not good ones indeed.
"I Remember Your Smile" by Akiko Matsuta is a deeply moving song played on a grand piano with a few notes of guitar to round some angles.
It's about death, sorrow and the hope that, maybe, closure is at hands towards the very end.

A long format video titled "Summer City Pop" is in the pipe. My 1st idea was to dedicate it to Japanese city pop from the 80s, but I changed my mind and will include some Canto-pop too.

Lots of visuals are produced in the process of getting a music track published and most of it remains unseen by anyone. Enjoy a few of the unused artwork of @Lost1980sHongKong

"Don't Forget This Feeling" by Japanese singer Minami Toshida is one of the tracks that will be featured on our Japanese Summer City Pop video, scheduled to be published soon. Enjoy the good 1980s synth vibes, may you dance through the night on that one.

The YouTube channel that's all about the 1980s Hong Kong that never existed. All content is AI-generated, none of the artists presented here ever existed. But let's just pretend.
